  1. haha you guys are awesome. Great information. So i have a d44 in the rear. What do i need to find for gears in Both front and rear. For 4.10s ? like What vehicle could i pull them out of. And if not i might buy gears but the carrier i wouldlike to find a decent one for the ratio. what trucks should i look for in the junkyard?
  2. i ask a lot of questions on here. but i love the info on here. so i tried the search and couldnt find anything with the info i was looking for and i know this has probably been beat to death You guys all swear up and down to not use my stock front diff. So what i was wondering Where can i get a dana 44 that will bolt in. Or just re welding mounts etc. with same bolt pattern. What vehicle would i look for. Is there any jeep that comes stock with one\? Thanks for any info given Please don't flame for noob question :) If it had 4 10s stock that wouldnt hurt anything now would it :) i am planning on re gearing and i have a 44 rear in it already
  3. yea i do need to update my sig and all that but i have never really messed with it. I have a 4.0 renix 5speed And i am not trying to go for better gas i guess i worded that wrong i just want to be able to still do 55 if needed. so what tire size would i need to get that with 4.10s or 3.73 And i have a rear 44 and i might be getting a hook up on another front axle from a friends shop.
  4. My jeep in not lifted yet. BUT before i lift i would prefer to gear and lock both front and rear. So my question would be i have 31s at the this time. and i am wondering what is a a good gear ratio to go with to keep now. And still be able to daily drive with being able to up size in tires and not rear gear. If i went with say a 3.73 gear that would be ok now but would it be ok after i lifted and went to 33s ? or would 4.10s be a better gear. ? i have a 5 speed tranny. so could i still get decent gas mileage around town with 4.10 and what rpm would i be running with 4.10s at 65 ? Or what tire size would i need to get to to get decent gas. or decent rpm at 65. with 4.10s vs 3.73
  5. Well i wasnt really going "aftermarket" it was just the local parts house. don't think it would be an upgrade or anything. and its the boots and the springs and stuff to rebuild it. but once again you guys no more than my i am an automatic guy never messed with a stick. drove them just never messed with em. And another thing you say you h ave to remove the tranny to replace it? i was looking at it and it looked like i could take two rear bolts and slide it out. But that was just a peak and i have not done so before so your probably right.

But I really appriciate the help and i am going out side to check it now guys. Been on a few forums and this on is the most laid back and has the nicest people. Have been flamed alot before on a forums for grammar and stuff. i am 18 i text a lot i am sorry that my computer grammar is not perfect. :) thanks guy.
  10. no one knows anything about our clutch systems? i really need any info i can get.
  11. Ok so driving home tonight and my truck didnt want to shift. So i almost didnt get home. the truck will not turn off when i remove the key now. and if i am sitting still and press the clutch all the way down it does not disengage my clutch all the way does some but it will not enouph for it to go in gear. Do we have cable or hydrolic clutches. Really need help this is my daily driver. could it just be fluid the pedal pushes down really easy. Had to speed shift all the way home and when i stopped i was screwed luckily i turned off and went down hill so i could speed shift it. All the help is greatly appriciated.
  12. wow guys thanks. dropping some info i think i am going with the retreads and might even call myself smart. Or GReen For doing it haha. Thanks for the replys and all the information shared in this post. Keep it up. something that can always be added to. And add some pictures if anybody has any Thanks
  13. well i hope you like water in your exhaust ? not the smartest thing but To each their own. But what use does it serve?
  14. i understand all the factors. And most of the reason tires fail retread or not is because of ppl not taking care of them. And i know that there are different qualitys of them. i feel treadwright has a good quality for what i want. I do go fast on occasion BUT not in my comanche. Its not a race car or anything close. I have other cars or bikes for that HAHA JK But i was just wondering for my truck they are small i do not speed or load or tow anything with it. So i am thinking about the OTRs Will also be driving with that too. until i get gas for my mig
  15. i have jk steelies on my truck right now and i don't have the spacers from spidertrax i got a set off a guy on ebay for 160 They are not hub centric but i check them and i put them on with lock tite. :) they are only 1.25 and they convert the bolt pattern over
  16. Hey i was in our trusty tech section and i was looking through all of the links came across this one http://www.treadwright.com Its high tech retreaded light truck tires. Did some research online and apperently they use retreaded tires on anything from ambulances to military aircraft. Read a lot of reveiws that were not on the web site. so they are not bias. and i think that for the price they would be worth it. But i want to know what you guys think. personal exp. all that jazz. i would like to know if they would be ok for a daily driver. i rarely use a freeway. so not worried about high speeds. Let me know what you guys think.or have experienced. thanks
  17. ok you got me lol and that was a maybe lol. just a maybe the most i would want is 33s maybe 35s just because it does look awesome but i don't think i would want the hassle of gears for that tire. I am thinking of just gearing to 410s and going with 33s and small lift with track bar. lol sorry to be a confusing person just trying to brainstorm thanks for the help tho guys.
  18. i have never said anything abou 35s? i just want maybe at most 33s i do not want to spend a too much time or money on this truck. What ????
  19. i bought this truck for 500 i do not plan on spending 3 grand on axles. I just plan on putting the truck on at the most 5 inches of lift and maybe 35s. But i do not want to go crazy with this thing i do not have loads of money to throw around most of my money that is for projects gets put into my malibu. i will just keep the axles then moderate lift gears and tires thats all i am planning.
  20. Well i read the stock comanche specs on greatlakesxj and it said that i have a ax15 ? Am i wrong or is that the bad trans your said ppl upgrade to it. And i don't plan on sinking any money in to either but my front seal is leaking and i am going to just fix the inner seal. not alot of money but time intensive. i don't wheel hard core or often for that matter. When i lift it i will switch front and rear for already geared from a larger truck. While on the topic and this is a tech thread What trucks would i look for a good front and rear diff to switch to. because my friend has an old 4x4 bronco in his yard with everything. and i could get it cheap. I guess what i am asking is what trucks have close to or the easiest swap as far as that goes i have rims for a 5x5 bolt pattern and would like to keep the bolt pattern 5x4.5 or 5x5 I have a welder and all that i understand brackets and everything will be differnt but what is the best swap. that would already be geared around 3.70/3.73/3.90/ or 4.10 And my truck needs a front driveshaft went to junk yard today and can't find one. the ones out of cherokees won't work will they?
  21. ok understood but if i get 33s later why would my trans not last? and what are the alternative trans that we can swap into our trucks. i seen a 700r4 with an adapterplate but if i was going to modify my truck to do that i would do a small block swap along with it. I am new to jeeps just not SBC chevy. unless you are saying my tranny will not last unless i gear it.
  22. Dang mr 21 questions. :) No i do not need 33s right now for any reason besides that i want them lol. and this is not a must just thinking. and seeing if its possible. My truck is a daily driver. I do not see too much freeway travel but it is not something i avoid I am a 87 comanche it is a 4.0 Renix 5 speed (i would assume from what info this great site has given me) As for gearing i am stock i have a dana 44 factory and i am the comanche chief. So i would also assume 3.07 i guess unless there is any thing to change that idea if the chief or dana 44 came with anything else. As for gearing i am planning on running 3.73 or somthing in that area. but just staying stock for now.
  23. Well i have 08 wrangler steel rims and spacers/adapters which bring my offset back to 4.25 which is stock i think but that might be why i do not rub
  24. I got my 31s on without any rubbing i drover for a couple days fine. After about 3 days i decided to do some cutting because i want to remount my fender flares but i had no problem with rubbing. At all and i have not shimmed my steering or anything you can check my comanche project page i have pictures of tires and flexing in my drive way with no rubbing
  25. i have 31s right now with no lift. and i can see sway bar disconnect. but will i really need a track bar. Not saying it isnt a needed piece i don't want to get flamed but will my factory not work at only say 2 to 3 inches? I might just do some coil spacers for now i don't want to have to deal with all that at the moment Not being lazy just its really cold here and i am waiting for spring to try to figure out doing a 5" lift. and as far as trackbars i know drop brackets are bad but i don't wheel often at all would it be a bad thing to get
