31 tires AX15 stock gearing at 70mph
SBpunk replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Rev is good Idle is steady on the gauge but the engine isn't nearly as smooth as my 06' (could just be its older and/or I'm being paranoid after upgrading to 703 injectors) Its never not started or died on me but I have this nagging feeling its under powered. I put in a THOR cowl intake (going to the river this Saturday), Bosch 703 injectors, new spark plugs, 15w40L Rotella Oil and something just feels off with it. Like I said it could be in my head. -

31 tires AX15 stock gearing at 70mph

Great thanks I'll take it out today and check it out. The links weren't working earlier but it might just be this computer. I was just asking because the numbers on 4th gear seemed way off. In 5th gear I'm almost at 3k rpms going 65 so I think something is wrong with my engine. -
Anyone know what my RPM's should be at 70mph? I've been driving down to the city and back a lot recently so I looked up an RPM chart. By its calculations my RPM's are WAAAAY off. Unless I put something in wrong at 3k RPM's in 4th gear I should be going 91 mph. If its true I need to go thru my engine and see what the hell I screwed up on it.

Looking for some bench seat brackets shipped to 73703

Hit up the local junk yards. We have a ton of 4 banger XJ's around here rotting. Next time I go I'll see if I can pull one.

Won't know until I get it. They came in 3 versions. Long medium and short. Hopefully it's a long or medium if not I'll be swapping shafts which will be a new project for me. Never opened or even dropped a transfer case before. Should be a fun experience.

Good enough for me thanks!

Another fuel tank leak question
SBpunk replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So go the fuel pump in and still just hanging under 1/4 tank. Manually moving it registers on the dash but no luck while it's in the tank. Any ideas? -
Another fuel tank leak question
SBpunk replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok got it figured out so far. Put some vasoline around the rubber cone and the o-ring. Seemed to seal up nicely and now I can tell that I'm out of gas...... -
So dropped my fuel tank to fix my sending unit. Now I can't get a good seal on the sending unit. There is a small rubber piece that presses into a hole at the bottom of the tank and I'm wondering how important it is. I can get a good seal without it but having issues getting it pressed in with it on.

New Fuel Injectors, TB and intake running horrible
SBpunk replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah definitely. Completely forgot when I drove it all of 1/4 mile to work today but it doesn't really kick in until the truck is warmed up. Usually if the O2 sensor is bad and causing the engine to screw up when you unplug it the engine corrects itself. Tried it out then the manifold got hot as hell so I planned on plugging it back in this morning. Completely forgot. -

Sorry wasn't able to tinker much with it last night but I did discover I unplugged the MAP vacuum when I was putting the fuel rail back in. She's still stuttering slightly not even enough for it to show on the RPM gauge. I'm guessing the computer just needs to relearn. I'm taking her out for a drive tonight on the highway. I ordered some new spark plugs just incase I fouled any. If I'm going to pull and check them I might as well replace. After that I'll move down to the O2 sensor (which I need to remember to plug in) but hopefully it won't be necessary. I'm probably going to be returning the intake back to stock since the cowl one is insanely annoying. -

Unplugged the o2 sensor at startup and no change. Still idling around 800rpm with a stutter and engine vibrations. Anyone have any ideas? -

I'm not sure if my TB was aftermarket but there wasn't a gasket when I removed it. I'll double check when I get home. When installing the fuel rail I unplugged the MAP sensor up top and didn't notice. It got rid of my trouble codes but now I have a slight stutter in the motor at idle (hot and cold) with a cold backfire from the exhaust. Before adding all the new stuff it ran smoothly. The RPM gauge isn't bouncing but there is a decent engine vibration that wasn't there before. The only thing I can think of is when I was trying to run it without the map sensor plugged in properly I might've fouled a spark plug or O2 sensor. -

Thanks Akula I'll check it out when I get off work. Until then I have 8 hours of annoying anticipation before I can go figure this crap out. I really don't want to pull the injectors again hahahaha -

Forgot to mention its backfiring at high RPM's when I rev the engine to keep it from shutting down on me. -

703s black. Guessing those are my issues. I double checked all the wires. The only vacuum hose that isn't connected is the one that runs into the backside of the airbox and connects to a hard plastic tube going around the back of the engine compartment. I'm going to swap the injectors back to stock and see if that solves my problem. I've never had good luck swapping injectors.
