the L piece and how it'd be mounted and oyaji, ya can see the 3 rust holes in the bed rail from the last owner, Redwolf
-
i already have rust in the bed rails from the previous owner, and i don't see how any of the destruction will happen when i see people drive down the road with flags all the time, Redwolf
-
i kinda figured that the L piece would have to be welded to a square piece, kinda hopin not i guess, i'll take a picture of where i plan on mountin it, also, what if i weld the pole to the L piece and just bolt that to the square piece through the bed to the other square piece instead of weldin it just incase i take it off that's a good idea, i want a light/roll bar for my bed anyhow, the problem is gettin my hands on the pipe to do so, Redwolf
-
if that is i'd like to have it if shippin is available :) Redwolf
-
i promised pictures so here they are, this is the piece of metal i have that i wanna weld a pole to i wanna weld the pole on both sides the whole length here and somehow weld the bottom all the way around here it's just a quick idea i had, if someone has a better idea and a picture to go along with it that'd be great :) Redwolf

You're going to be hard pressed to find a 12v compressor that will put out enough volume to maintain 100+psi at the horns long enough for them to do anything. The tank allows you to store enough pressure and volume to make the horns work, but the typical 2-gallon tank that comes with most of the kits I've seen is only good for about 5 seconds and then it takes over a minute to recharge it. See what I mean about volume? Valves of some kind are absolutely necessary unless you want your horn sounding constantly. Basically, it's like the tap on a sink: open it, air goes through; close it, no more air. Solenoid valves are electrically triggered, typically through a relay, so they'll open when there's power to them and shut off when it's removed. It's much easier to wire up a switch than to plumb or rig linkages for a manual valve. As far as the pepboys kit, if this is what you're talking about, it sounds like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlkozk6qjKY Not impressive, I must say. But it doesn't come with a tank or solenoid valve because it doesn't need either. It's a pretty wimpy high-pitched horn, so the compressor it comes with is enough to sound it without a reservoir, so the relay simply turns on the compressor. In comparison, this is what the hornblasters mid-range (228VX) kit sounds like: Admittedly, it does cost 10x as much... but if I was going with a horn kit, that's the one I'd go with. I just don't have $500 to lay down on what is essentially a novelty horn. i got it now, what about wolo xtreme power elextric horns? i stopped by pepboys today and they had those and the wolo long horn claxons largos, the long horns come with the relay, hoses, trumpets, and compresser, the guy at pepboys said they both have that semi sound which is purdy much what i'm lookin for with what i can aford with the space i have available, anyone know anything bout those two horn kits? does that MJ have the trim piece under the back window? redwolf

like i said in my last post, i'll take a picture of how i've planed on doin this so yall better understand, i don't plan on havin a flag pole longer than 5', but i will be flyin a 3x5' flag, i might make this an all time thing, i might not, i don't know yet but the point is i wanna flag pole rig system that won't rip outta my bed, and if my mpg does down hill, it'll be ok since i get great millage anyhow, Redwolf

hi/lo horn set off a buick? i heard caddy had louder ones, i believe it was the cadillac brougham that i was told, but either way, the only yards i can troll is pick n pull, johnsons mustang and truck and always used auto parts, i've been to all 3 and the biggest thing all of em have is either a dodge 2500 or a chevy 1500, nothin that has an air horn, now if i knew what stock horns i were lookin for off a buick or caddy that'd be great to know since i'm goin to pnp tomorrow i know i need the trumpets (horns), a compresser, hoses, wirin, but i didn't know i need a tank and solenoid, pepboys down here has a air horn kit that comes with 2 trumpets, a compresser, hoses, and a relay, i thought that's all i needed, Redwolf

alright, well tomorrow i'm gonna take a picture of the piece of metal i have have, and just as an example i'm gonna use the holiday/seasonal flag as an example for how i'm gonna mount the flag pole, Redwolf

i know that blue, 60 mph is the top speed i've gone in my MJ and even then, i hardly hit 60, i mainly stay around 50, i've gotten the spare american flag from my dad that he bought when he bought or current one, it's lasted 10 years, that's with atleast 3 hurricanes, but either way, my whole issue is mountin the flag pole, i know that the fast i go the more drag i'll have which will mean the better chance of it rippin outta my bed, i just wanna know if my piece of metal will work if it's bolted to the bed with 2 bolts and the pole is welded to the metal, it's like i said, maybe 1/8" metal, Redwolf

veterans day is next month and i've been invited to run my MJ in the parade and i wanted to install a flag pole in the bed of my truck right behide the wheel well, i have a piece of maybe 1/8" thick steel that's been looks like bent into an L, i was wonderin if i just bolt that to the flag will that be ripped out once i hit 60MPH, i plan on keepin the flag up all the time but the parade thing is really pushin for me to do it now, has anyone put a flag pole in their MJ beds, if so how? i'd like to see several ideas and way if yall shoot my idea down, Redwolf

not exactly what i had in mind but at 36 bucks might be worth it, Redwolf

well i ripped the A/C outta my MJ cause i've never had A/C untill my mom's jeep so i got used to no A/C, but i left the compresser simply cause i couldn't get it out at the time, i don't know if it works or not bein that my heat air valve is broken and i only have defroster, but if my compresser does work, how would i tap it into the air horn? well bein that onlyinajeep said i could use the A/C compresser i'll probably use that but i'll check out the site, also, do the compressers have to be horizontal or can they be vertical? i've only seen em horizontal? Redwolf

i've thought bout the 4 trumpet system but all i really need is the 2 trumpet system, do i HAVE to have a air compresser? Redwolf

i've always wanted that loud train/semi truck air horn sound in the truck i drive ever since i started lookin at trucks when i was 15, yesterday i got cut off by an inpatient mini cooper, so like anyone with road rage does, i laid on the horn, reliezed that the horn fades in and out after about 30 seconds, i know i need a new horn button/steerin wheel cover cause the clips are worn and flimsy, but all that aside, i wanna know how easy it is to install the air horns, the easiest way to get that train/semi horn sound and has anyone done this before? Once Again, Another Tranny Issue

not sure if the level dropped any, i really hope not cause that gl5 stuff smells bad, i'm not sure if the soft line has been replaced, i'd asumme that when the master was replaced that was replaced, but i'll check, what's the easiest way to check it? Redwolf there is not really a way to check the line while it is still hooked up, so its usually best to replace it anyway (its cheap enough), more so if you don't know when it was replaced last true, i'll see if i can see if it's been changed before i bought the MJ yup, that's exactly what happens for me, unless it's 75 degrees or hotter not sure if the level dropped any, i really hope not cause that gl5 stuff smells bad, i'm not sure if the soft line has been replaced, i'd asumme that when the master was replaced that was replaced, but i'll check, what's the easiest way to check it? Redwolf Check the fluid and top it up if low.....that is step 1 in the master cylinder or the fill plug on the tranny? Redwolf -

that's what my dad was thinkin, bout the temps, and my clutch is deffently adjusted right, the catch point is at the bottom and i tested that today, had it in first, no pressure on the gas pedal and let off on the clutch, once i hit that catch point it stalled, Redwolf -

i'm havin another tranny issue, i know it's not the clutch slave or the master cylinder, the master was replaced before i bought it and the clutch slave i just replaced and bled properly, with that bein said, ONLY when the tranny is cold do i have this issue, up-shiftin i have NO problem but comin to a red light i'll press in the clutch (and keep on it) throw it in 4th (unless i'm feelin lazy and keep it in 5th) and press the break pedal to stop then i'll go to 2nd then 1st all with the clutch pedal pressed in while all this is goin on, but like i said ealier only when the tranny is cold does it shift into neutral but it won't let me shift into 1st or 2nd, sometimes 3rd, i'll have to double clutch which i'm not a fan of doin, any ideas what's breakin this time, is it the whole tranny, a warm up issue from me not lettin the truck warm up enough or is it the syncros? 2 Wheel Drive To 4 Wheel Drive Conversion
redwolf624 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You don't need to change the engine. alright that makes since, and as far as the 2.8 havin low power and poor fuel economy, for as little as that engine it it has a lot of power and i get 17-19 miles to the gallon  Redwolf -

now 42 replies and it's not even my fault  i do have another question though, i heard somewhere that i'd have to change the engine if i was to convert my MJ to 4wd, i don't know if that's true or not but if it was to be true, why would i have to change it? Redwolf -
