Gone? Admittedly, I don't visit there near as much as I used to, but it's been down now for a couple of days. Sad if true.

Hardywood is a local brewery here in Richmond. Their beers are infamous around here. Every year, they make a Gingerbread Stout around Christmas time (now....). It is literally all gone within a week of first sighting in the supermarkets. I still have 2 bottles left from last year in the fridge. I usually pick up about 4-6 bottles every year (they are larger bottles, about $12/each). So, so, so good! If you see the Gingerbread stout there 86, grab at least one on my recommendation. If you don't like it (not a chance in hell you won't), I'll send you a reimbursement check for what you paid for it Gotta support your locals!

Lockers. The mountains or the beach?

I think I FINALLY found the source of my little oil leak. Was underneath it over the weekend changing the oil and tightened up the bolts on the "windage tray" above the oil pan where it looked like it was seeping a bit. So far, I've only had one little tiny drip spot since. The lower block is weird on these engines....there's the block surface, then an upper oil pan with a block gasket on the upper side (which is what is seeping), then the actual oil pan is RTV'd to the bottom of that. I've been googling it, and it looks like I can buy the upper gasket, then pull the pan and unbolt the upper "pan"/windage tray and replace the gasket all with the engine in place. I have to unbolt the A/C compressor on the front of the upper pan, the pillow block/bearing for the passenger axleshaft on the back, pull the oil pump pickup tube and dipstick, and drop the catalytic converter to get it all off, but it's all nuts and bolts. Then 12 bolts (plus a couple of bellhousing bolts) to unbolt the upper pan. I might tackle that all this weekend. I hate engine oil leaks, and I'm determined to get this thing to NOT leak anything eventually.

I'm not a big IPA fan either, but I have to say one of my absolute favorite beers is Perpetual IPA, made by Troeg's (Hershey, PA). I might have mentioned it somewhere earlier in this thread. I've got a few bottles in the garage fridge.....just might have to pop one or 2 of them tonight after work https://troegs.com/beer/perpetual-ipa/

Yep. But somehow, amazingly, I've had to do my job 100% without any excuse or error since this whole thing started.

Brute force. African or European? (some might not get the reference here....)

Windows, but uuuughh.... Renix or HO?

Nope...no paper bill in the mailbox today. Its now 2 days "late". Hmmm....

(stole this thread idea right off Irate, should be fun and revealing) Carburated or fuel injected? Answer, then ask another question. Next....

Unless the entire driverside of that Scrambler is horribly mangled (or completely missing....) why is that whole thing even sitting there like that??? That thing deserves to live on somewhere else.

We do pay it early sometimes, especially when we know we're not going to be in town on the 1st of the month. But not every month. The paper bill is usually the trigger, but like I said lately it's been hit or miss on it actually arriving on time or not. It might actually be in my mailbox today, but I left for work at 0630. My mail usually gets delivered between 4-5PM on weekdays (and before noon on Saturdays when the substitute/alternate carrier delivers.....but that again is a whole 'nother story).

New(er) daily driver recommendations (Liberty vs Grand Cherokee)
mjeff87 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in The Pub
I've been overall pleased with my KJ, but I wouldn't rush out and recommend one to anyone. Mine's a first model year, which came with good and bad. The "bad" is the rear 8.25 is drum brake (03-forward all got discs). Very early models also came with higher suspension, which switched sometime during the model run. I'm not sure which one mine is, and really don't care since I don't wheel it. The good is the auto trans is the 45RFE, not the dreaded 42RE. Sure, it shifts a little bit harsh, but that trans will outlive the rest of the drivetrain. I've only had minor maintenance on it since owning it and it's got about 140K on it now (bought it with <60K on it as the third owner). Yes, I had to do major surgery to it a couple years ago when I snapped the #6 plug off in the head, but looking back I can't say that wasn't my fault to begin with, so no fault to it). I'm well aware of, and super paranoid about the valve seat problems inherit with the 3.7 (and 4.7), to the point I'm anal about cooling system maintenance on it. That's my choice, but I'd say a vehicle owner shouldn't have to worry about such things in a plain Jane daily driver. That one's on D/C. Funny thing is I remember when KJ's first came out and I swore I'd never be caught dead riding in one of them, let alone own one. Well, here we are now LOL. I also said the same thing when the new Cherokee's came out.....and I've been eyeballing them lately now (early, used models). I've got a feeling if I ever get rid of the KJ, it will be for one of them. -
^^^all that said, and I still have to mention......this institution did actually even manage to screw up our payment a couple months ago. The one I made through the drive thru window (cause, COVID, and noone's lobby is open for in-person banking). The teller actually applied it to the credit card account (which has a $0 balance......) I have with them instead of the mortgage account. The account numbers are similar, but different, and she chose the wrong one. I got the receipt and never even thought to check the account number to see if it was right (everything else was, including the name). You'd think it would be easy for them to fix once I realized what they did (wrong), but it almost took an act of congress for them to get everything straight. Top it all off, the month after that we got a charge for a late payment for that month, plus interest and penalties. I went ballistic on them.

That's what I was thinking, the extra day or 2 (or more) of interest they can tack on to the balance of the note. Couple pennies here and there, but extrapolate that across hundreds of accounts, per month, for a 15 or 30 year note and you can be talking about some serious money being "made". And not noticeable at all. I've got a sneaking suspicion that they are sending out the bills/statements intentionally late, but not late enough to make anyone's account actually "late", or >15 days past the due date. Sneaky, yes? Illegal.......I dunno. I didn't want to bring up auto payments. Every other bill my wife and I have are either on auto pay or are paid electronically, except our mortgage. Long, 2-part story behind it, but 1) we've been shafted by other lenders who applied our payments wrong, or not at all, or to someone else's account before (Bank of America, I'm looking right at YOU) and I want to make damn sure our payment posts correctly every. single. time. And 2) our payment comes out of 2 different account sources (neither of which are with this institution). I've already asked them if they can do what we need them to do, and they said they can't take an EFT from more than one external account source. Sure, I could move money between accounts each month to put enough in one of them to do one EFT, but I don't want to. Thanks for the reply.

I've got a theory in my head that a local institution I deal with is doing something not Kosher. Let's say you have a loan, in my case a mortgage. The payment is due on the 1st of every month. After the 15th, it is considered "late". You are old school, and like to make your payments in person every month (to make sure your payment is actually applied, and applied to the correct account.....but that's a whole different discussion). Problem is your monthly bill/statement doesn't show up in your mailbox until AFTER the 1st of the month (not every month, but it's been late 4 out of the last 6 months). My question is, does your interest increase, ever so slightly but it increases, when you make that payment on the 2nd, or 3rd? We always pay it on the 1st, regardless of having a proper bill or not, that's not a question. But I'm thinking if they can bilk an extra couple pennies of interest from 1000's of other customers who wait a day or two (or more) to pay, those little fractions of a cent of interest can add up pretty quickly, and they can make a TON of extra income from interest. Think of the movie Office Space.....noone notices the fractions of a cent until they become noticeable.

That first pic is definitely vent visor clips.

Went back down and got 2 more boxes of 9 plus a soft carry case for the .22 (going to the range tomorrow to shoot it some). But, I found my penultimate Christmas gift there....they wheeled out a whole pallet of flame throwers. I would be lying if I said I wasn't thinking about going back this week and picking one up.
-
Thats $200 worth of 9mm (Brazilian, but what the hell....so is the 702 i bought lol). I might go get 2 more boxes to make it an even 500 rounds. That gets me back into my comfort zone, for now.
-
I see what you did there.....
-
Yeah, they didn't have the 715. Only had about 20 of the 702's as well....I went early. Surprisingly dead there, and every other place around too. I'm off Monday, I might hit up the range with it and a couple hundred rounds. I'd like to put a small scope on it, but still be able to keep the stock sights it came with. The older I get, the worse my focus is with sights. With my glasses on, I can use the front one and see the target, but the rear one is fuzzy. Take my glasses off and its just the opposite

I always try to buy a firearm every black Friday. Last year was twin 9mm's for me and the wife, year before was a 12 ga pump shotty. This year, thanks to the covid and the ensuing ammo shortage, I grabbed a .22 semi auto rifle. Mossberg 702 "plinkster". All composite stock, only weighs 4.0 lbs (not kitted out). 19" barrel, fiberoptic sights, 10 round mag....pretty sporty little shooter IMO. I'm conserving all my other ammo, especially 9mm (but I did get 8 boxes from the same store when I bought the rifle lol). We have plenty of .22lr on hand, so I'll be able to keep regular range time with it and not really have to worry about the ammo. I do have a 50 round drum mag up in the closet for my wife's AR that should fit this thing too Anyone else snag anything good today?

My .02c, I would just put a new head gasket and water pump on it and call it good (assuming the head is not cracked). 111K is nothing, and if your valvetrain wasn't having issues beforehand there's no sense in replacing them just because. You can install new rockers and pushrods with the head installed if they start to cause any issues in the future (doubtful, though). Lifters/cam are another story though. You have to pull the head on a 4.0 to pull the lifters (2.5's can be pulled up through the head). New lifters on an old cam are "ok", but a new cam on old lifters is bad juju. It's better to just replace them all as a set, and if you're replacing the cam, it's a good idea to replace the cam bearing in the back of the block, which is a whole other can of worms best left alone if no problem exists.

On mine, the very end of the regulator cable was stripped. I was able to raise it like others said, by grabbing the glass and pulling up while cranking it. I installed a very well placed little chunk of 2x4 inside the door at the bottom to prevent the glass from coming down far enough to dis-engage the cable at the "sweet spot" so I could roll it back up. I never did fix/replace the regulator, lol.

even betterer..... (although City of New Orleans is my all-time favorite)
