All 35 psi. My uncle was the original owner so I doubt the steering box was upgraded -
Extremely Sensitive Steering
thejim42 replied to thejim42's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Had an alignment done a couple months ago when I put my new tires on it -
My 88 is bone stock 2wd no lift and is riding on 235/75r 15s. My steeringis extremely sensitive. The is almost no play but it is so "touchy" that it is kinda scary on the highway to drive. This is my dd and I'm on the interstate quite abit. Anyone ever had this issue and know how to fix it?

i went to home depot and got a piece of plexi glass cut it to the right measurement and glued my latch on it and you can't tell the difference. its a good temporary fix

Need Clutch Help 86 4Cyl 5 Speed

Well ive bled it according to the book, removing the slave and keeping it pushed in while bleeding it. I feel like I'm stepping on a brick wall and the clutch still doesnt disengage...what am I missing? Could be the pressure plate or wrong clutch kit? I'm at a loss. -

out the trans back in the 86. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will all work when I bleed the clutch tomorrow. Next thing to do will be the brakes so I can drive it around a bit before I decide to either part it or sell it or keep it. Paint on the beast has been put on the backburmer for now amd I put the dog house together and put the fog lights on it. Will post those pictures soon. -

It starts one minute then the next I went to start it again and I don't even here a click. I know the battery has a charge and all my lights and gauges come on so idk what the deal is -
I bought an 86 xls, 2.5 5 speed 4x4, with an external slave cylinder it supposedly had a new clutch kit in it when I bought it but the clutch didn't disengage when you stepped on the pedal. I pulled the trans out checked everything out made sure the fork was on right, I put on a new slave and master cylinder bled the clutch and the clutch pedal feels like I have no resistance. Can't test it to see if it works because now the truck doesn't start but does anyone have and advice with the clutch?

I've got an 86 xls, 2.5 4cyl, 5 speed 4x4. I was doing some clutch work and started the truck to test it. I shut it off and a little while later I went to start it, turn the key and I have gauges and lights but the motor doesn't turn over, no click nothing. I know the battery is charged so idk what's wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated

Well I've replaced all the bulbs and for some reason my parking lights don't come on. If I pull the bulb out of the lenses it is extremely dim. Turn signals and flashers are fine its just the parking lights. Any ideas? -

well pulled the trans out of the 86 today, looks like either the fork shifted when the PO put the trans in or he put the fork in backwards. How is the fork actually supposed to go in? is there a retainer clip or something that is supposed to hold it in place? id like to get it ready to put back together tomorrow so i can test the t-case and trans. After all that i had to give the beast some attention. I painted the grill with bedliner by mistake instead of flat black earlier this week and liked it so must i painted the headlight trim and louvers with bedliner too. Mounted my roll bar a couple days ago and got my lights on it. got another set for the front bumper after it gets the bedliner. hopefully that will get done tomorrow and paint my hitch. Put new bulbs in my parking lights so hopefully they will work now and put new sockets in for my headlights so my high beams work now. The next thing will be painting the center console out of the 86 and figure out what to do about the bucket seats since they are red and my 88s interior is gray. Is it hard to swap in a tilt column and change the ignition tumbler and steering wheel? -
