  1. The build can be found on Expedition Portal. I'll have to search to find a direct link.
  2. I purchased the truck as you see it from the origional owner. He is the co-owner of Adventure Trailers in Prescott, AZ. My wife and I traveled to "Overland Expo" in May investigating roof-top tents and onboard freezer/refridgerators. Found that and alot more. Pintlers aren't silver, 33s, about 5 1/2" lift. We camped in it every weekend from 4th of July until Labor Day. We attended All Breeds in York, PA, Bantam in Butler, PA and Jeep Week at Ocean City, MD. My wife drove the 2,300 miles from Prescott to our home solo in three days. I'll post more pics.
  3. This is my third Comanche, 92', acquired in May 2011. Some of you may have seen it before.
  4. At about this time during the project, my focus was diverted to my newest Comanche. http://comancheclub....uilty-pleasure/
  5. This is my second Comanche acquired in 2011. It will be another long term project. Its an 89' purchased from the local salvage yard. I waited an entire year before submitting to their price during which time it continued to function as their yard transporter. Cost me a few more dents and dings. Don't know how they managed to come up with a clear title but it made tags and registration easier for me. It came with wagon spoke wheels, dry rotted rubber, some 22 shells, a little less than a buck in loose change, lots of mud, and a rusty roll bar. I added the Rock Monster bead locks and wrapped them with 32" BFG KM2s. I enjoyed it for a summer and then set about to resolve the too audible chain slapping in the 242 transfer. Went to the garage to pull the said case and when I returned to the house, the transfer case, transmission, and front axle were no longer married to the unit. This was followed by pulling the engine, my first such forey. :hmm: Sooo...another adventure begins!
  6. Exterior bed paint completed, interior prepped for Line-X which will be one of the last issues addresed. I've got an idea for a subtle modification to add to the truck's uniqueness. Like alot of y'all, I want to do a few things to personalize the manche while keeping it looking like it could have been close to factory. I never imagined that a new piece would need so much work, but I'm glad my buddy is meticulous. The unused holes were welded and paintable end caps were purchased, both were color matched and painted to achieve a monochromatic appearance.
  7. Congrats Backdraft! Nice to have a media mogal onsite.
  8. Yes, there has been progress but this project has taken way longer than expected. First, here's a little more detail on bed preparation. After an unsuccessful search for an aftermarket rollpan, I enlisted the skills of my friend, a professional paint and body tech.

    Shoutbox?

Finally get it . I'm on the wrong side of the "digital divide". It's difficult for old people like me to keep up with social media.

    Shoutbox?

Thanks guys. I get the chat aspect. What I don't understand is actual functions. Clicking on a topic renders no response. How do I navigate to the associated topic? I've discovered that by hovering the curser over the author I can select content. I suppose that might be helpful. :hmm: It has nothing to do with the topic, just kinda like their history.

    Shoutbox?

i used the search option trying to understand what "Shoutbox" is. I can't find an explanation. Are the posts just random? Or is there more to the posts?

    Shoutbox?

Someone please help me! For those about to suggest the "search", I have, in every fourm, with no success. Please direct me to help on getting into "Shoutbox" and how to navigate.
  13. I wanta see another movie.
  14.  Nice project you've got goin! I'm curious about the brackets for the disc brakes. Sourced out, or did you fab them?
  15. This has been an entertaining exchange. I came up empty a quick search for the rubicon transfer case. I've read that it offers a 4:1 ratio and it will interchange. Would it be a viable swap? :dunno:
  16. Thanks Blue. I did check another bolt with a nut and it seemed a little sloppy. I guess it was due to multipule heat cycles, planning on new bolts and tapping out the broken one.
  17. The most rearward exhaust manifold bolt was perviously broken. What's the bolt size or could someone direct me to a link with bolt size info?
  18. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the information. I'll be swapping an OEM in the 2WD. Nice thing is, the bed is currently off awaiting paint. That makes the job a snap.
  19. Thanks for the correction on the XJ swap. Both units are 89 shortbeds. The 2 wheel drive fuel pump access is on top of the tank. Is that a factory set up?
  20. I've acquired MJ # 2 and need to replace the fuel pump. Unlike my other 89', I did not need to drop the tank to remove the pump. The pump installs from the side and is unbelievablly accessable. I suspect the tank has been swapped out of a Cherokee. Could someone please confirm my suspision or correct me please? :dunno:
  21. I concur with Wade and Jim. Sometimes less is more.
  22. Thanks for the complements guys. ( Brent ) My garage is now somewhere between organized chaos and a wreck. There isn't enough shelf space for all the parts awaiting paint and reassembly.
  23. Thanks, it has been a slow process. The first two coats of primer went on the bed and fender flares this week. Hopefully, things will pick-up. I'm anxious to see it come together.
