While the important thing is that this MJ is getting used and enjoyed...... I'm another fan of its previous look. Not digging the wheels at all. Stripes just make the truck. Now it looks like that Harvest Gold fridge in my grandma's house...... sorry. Ya know...... satin black pioneer or sport truck stripes would look killer with its current theme.....

Years ago I was working for Sears Automotive as a job dispatcher. A customer brought a '79 Cutlass in for a significant oil leak. The mechanic that got assigned to look at/work on the car was a guy in his 60's. He drove it in, looked under it without putting it on a lift and quoted the customer a rear main seal repair. The car sat for weeks and the shop manager asked me to call the customer and have them remove the car. They said they couldn't afford the repairs and didn't think the car was worth fixing. (This was '87 and the car was actually really nice). I told them the shop manager would have it towed at their expense if they didn't get it moved soon. Couple days later, it had a for sale sign in it stating the rear main issue and a $50 price for the car. Yeah I bought it. Brought it home, bought a rear main kit, oil, filter and pan gasket. Jacked it up, looked it over and giggled like a school girl.... Trans cooling line had rubbed a hole in the oil filter. For the price of a new filter and a couple quarts of oil, I had a stupid cheap new daily driver....lol. So yeah, sometimes assumptions can really screw things up.

Picked this '02 Police Interceptor up for CHEAP. It's in such good shape, I'm gonna fix it and possibly drive it for a while. It was a command take home car so it's got the nice interior with carpet, not the burlap-ish seats and rubber floors. Previous owner hit a deer. Didn't damage the A/C or Radiator at all. "Easy" fix..... It's seen A LOT of dirt road driving...... lol Have all the body parts coming to fix it, (ala former Denver PD parts car) then probably do a MAACO spray job. Already deleted the spotlight and emergency equipment wiring. Needs a fuel pump and one brake line that rubbed and burst against the chassis. Also plan on getting the old exhaust cut out, replacing with Flowmaster 40's and 3" tips. Tires were bald and dry rotted so I snagged a set of 18" 2012 Challenger wheels. Requires 1"-1.25" wheels spacers to look right, but will bolt up as they are with no problems - they just sit too far into the wheel wells for my liking. Pic is using spacers for initial fit testing.

Yep. My '88 Olympic has regular ol' tail lights. However........ I have had a couple '87-'90 with these in black trim.

Figured it out. Had the filter "Just items I follow" checked. Unchecked that and its all back.

Not exactly sure where to look for said "filter"........? But yeah, when CC first comes up, I can see the new content page, but as soon as I log in, gone.

Let one go yesterday. My '90 Eliminator. Arguably the best truck I had, on it's way to Iowa. New owner will be doing a rotisserie resto/mod. 3" and 31's in it's future. Hoping the new owner will post up a build thread here. Image Not Found Might have another gone before the weekend is over.

I spray the back and outsides of the freeze plugs with Copper Coat just before install, then let them set up for a couple hours before putting in coolant. Copper Coat seems to keep the plug metal protected and seals up any small grooves/gouges in the block opening surface. Figured if it's great on head gaskets, should be great on freeze plugs. :thumbsup:

Freeze plugs are fickle girls......... Previous owner could have gotten a little over enthusiastic with the surface prep of the block opening and cleared off too much metal. Previous owner could have installed it in correctly and it was cocked a bit in the block opening keeping it from having been pressed in tight enough. My bigger concern is that the freeze plugs were changed out by the previous owner because that same one popped out on him too. Why? Because the block opening is cracked....... I've experienced this myself. SUCKS!

I'm gonna agree that I too prefer the unibody rails to be black or undercoated. Not a fan of them being body color. The red '87 Comanche Chief I have now is the same - red with red unibody rails. Kind of a worn out, taller, older brother to your MJ glundblad......... :D Oh, and it too is Comanche fender emblem delete.

Yeah, the MJ unibody rails under the cab are quite different than those under an XJ. About the only place they're the same is from the front bumper mounts back to the lower control arm brackets. From there, they differ alot. Here's a Hornbrod lower midsection stiffener...........:D

I have this one in Colorado for $1600. Needs an engine and some tinkering. Factory automatic, 4x4, with power windows and A/C. 8.25 rear axle swapped in (but needs the spring seats positioned for MJ specs, still OEM XJ position which has the shackles in a bind). If you want a runner engine to go with it, add $300. Image Not Found Lots of new parts under the hood. Have a pair of MUCH nicer tan bucket seat skins and a tan full console to go with it. Has some surface rust, one rotten spot on pass. door. Floors are in good shape though. It also now has a much straighter red tailgate as well. PM if you want more details and pics.

And another. Freebie trailer from Craigslist. Gonna cut the back off like the Chevy one I did, but this bed has a perfect bulkhead up front that unbolts and should bolt up to the end I cut off to make a shallow spot behind the tailgate. Maybe do some cushions. Gonna put it on some feet and make it so the tailgate comes down for a bench.

Would be fun....... but it desperately needs a makeover. Delete the scoop, spot lights, visor, bed wing and spinners. Tuck bigger tires into the rear fenders and drop the front (if the oil pan will allow......)
