I like those windows, do you ever notice it getting "foggy" inside of yours when all windows are closed on a rainy day? Would a dehumidifier be a worthy investment?
-
Wow, did you notice you had to use a higher brake gain on the trip? If so, that could be a good sign of a brake failure to notice in the future. How can twist connects be DOT approved for road safety items? That's insane, haha.
-
That’s a very valid point, but it would seem those are the only inaccessible utilities. I know this post is getting pretty long now, but I said previously it would be mostly for full-time living. Not a big deal with the slide as it would rarely be in
-
Just one for full time living a year or so. The tow rig will vary, but the smallest is rated for 7422lbs tow, and 760lbs tongue. Weight of the hitch stabilizer is about 70lbs, and the rated tongue of the trailer on the website apparently includes batteries and 2 LP tanks, according to the dealer. Again, the smallest rig would just be for short movements, not long trips. This trailer would be stationary for most of the time. The place I'm taking it has laundry and trash facilities as well, which is a big plus.

I checked out a bunch yesterday, primarily Jayco and Grand Design. I think I've ruled out Jayco, the layouts and head room were nice, but clear defects in alot of the interior. I toured a Grand Designs and the head room was tight, but I was wearing almost inch soles on my boots, I think they'd be fine. The quality seemed very good, minus a door that was popped off a track. Easy fix. Tell me what you think about this model: Imagine XLS 23LDE Seem like it would fit the bill and budget perfectly. Just a bit longer than I was looking at initially.
-
Still researching more brands, anyone have a Grand Design TT? As has been said before, all suffer from quality issues, but when looking at "best and worst brands" on multiple websites, GD trailers seem to manage their way onto the better half of that list.
-
This is all very discouraging information, especially since I’d be buying this as a somewhat full-time living option at a year or so.
-
Wow, that's insane, especially for a 2020. Thanks for the heads up. It's starting to seem like the only TT company worth a damn charges almost 100k for it, with no slide out. I'm not ready to take that plunge into Airstream just yet.

Good eye, Warrior 2.

One of my favorite pictures I’ve taken. I flew over and landed at the first airport in the world. Wright Brothers first powered flight.
-
Yeah, a bit exaggerated, we could fit 6 ah64 apaches in one, blades folded.
-
Thats a C5, quite a bit bigger. You could fit a c17 fuselage inside of this thing its so big.
-
Really? Does it use the seven pin connection or is it separately wired when being charged? I was also looking at factory solar panels.
-
Why is that, exactly? Do you mean if it’s the only door? I understand in that case

I was definitely going to use a weight distribution hitch, which would add about another 70lbs or so to tongue weight. At this size, it would probably be unsafe not to. The soonest RV show is in October for me, which is a shame because that would have been a great way to look for what I wanted without buying pressure. I'm looking at an RB (rear bathroom) now due to the issues you guys mentioned, size. Thanks alot for all the input.
-
Haha, no way. Tow vehicle will vary, but mostly fullsizes, even an F250 which is a bit overkill. Smallest would be a Gladiator over short distances, which is still well within its tow ability.

I'm most certainly mechanically savvy, so no issue there. Thanks for all the input. I will definantely check out Jayco, I did some research after tugboat95 mentioned it, and they seem to be very well built for a decent price, AND they come from the factory with Goodyears. I guess I should have added the specs I'm aiming for as well: Weight: Not more than 5100 lbs dry. Tongue: 600 lbs dry, I know LP bottles will raise that quickly. Length: at or under 27 feet I'd really like a slide out, as Pete was mentioning above. I'm 6'5", an interior where I don't have to duck would be nice too. If anyone has a trailer somewhat like this and is happy with it, let me know what you've got. I'm not exactly sure how to measure frontal area, apparently it can change based on how aerodynamic the front is. An 80 sq/ft brick frontal area wouldn't be the same as an 80 sq/ft bullet shape, does anyone know the actual formula?

Today marks my 9 year birthday, AS WELL as my 1000th post. Didn't time it that way, it just happened.

I'm potentially in the market for a non fifth wheel travel trailer, but am amazed at how many poor reviews there are for many of the popular brands out there, even the classic Winnebago. I was looking at a Gulfstream Ameri-Lite, because I am somewhat limited on max trailer weight, and they look very nice, but quality is apparently hit or miss. Do any of you have experience, or recommendations?

I always thought satellites took these pictures when semi overhead. Looking at these photos, that's certainly not the case. Looking at my last 3 houses, though, my MJ is in all of them. THEY CLONED IT

Winter running temps
AeroNautical replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My 4.0 has always run slightly below 210, and in the high 100s in the winter. But this is the reading on my dash, if I take an IR gun reading on the head itself, the temperature is slightly higher than my gauge reading, but still lower in the winter. I've replaced the thermostat very recently, within a year, and multiple times over the years, with no changes. As long as its not hot or overly cool, I just don't worry about it anymore. -
HO Fuel Sending Units in the works!
AeroNautical replied to scguy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
After all the effort I put into adapting an XJ HO sending unit to mine. This is good though, I'm looking forward to it. Any ballpark on price? -
So were the Wright Brothers, invented a way to get out faster, haha.

I've seen Dangar Marine mentioned, but another channel in close relation is Project Brupeg, about some New Zealanders rebuilding a sunken steel fishing trawler into an expeditionary rig. Pretty cool stuff, they're about to launch it actually.
