  1. I bet, honestly I don't know how you flatlanders can live there, I'm surprised you don't just jump off a cliff to.......oh wait thats right, nevermind.
  2. I hike the canyon a couple of times a year and have been doing so since 95. I have never done a rim to rim, and I don't go in the summer. It seems like the only way to travel during the summer would be to hike during the night and rest during the day.....not my idea of fun. I go in the spring, fall, and winter, very pleasant then. I've been to cottonwood campground but never further north, I've been from Hermits rest all the way over to the grandview trail......still just a tony fraction of the canyon.

  4. yup....turbine car
  5. The good news is I use CC to pass coded messages to my socialist brethren. Which reminds me: "I looked at my Dana 35 wrong today and it broke....." Oh and I forget one from yesterday: "How common is a rear main seal leak on a 4L?"
  6. Chrysler turbine car pictured after it(dodge dart kinda looking thing).

  9. Last few are around moab. Thats the old road, they built a new one which made a dam and a lake, old road flooded, probably 50 feet below the surface.

  11. Springtime a while back I decided to play around with flower shots......i have no idea what i'm doing: http://colorado4wheel.com/images/spring_flowers/
  12. Been going through and getting photos organized and online for the first time in....well ever. So I'm gonna post all sorts of random kinda cool photos I have hiding on my computer: Gallery: http://colorado4wheel.com/images/second_creek/ A few cool ones: wheel off the ground(CF body):
  13. on the other hand I have never fired a gun or owned one before but I went out and dropped a bunch of money on an assault rifle 15 and plan to go shoot things drunk this weekend :clapping:
  14. There was a guy in texas who was putting a mercedes engine(forget which engine right now, but one of the venerable ones like the OM616 or 617. Ya it can be done in a weekend, but thats pretty hard to pull off.
  15. A diesel engine conversion is a much bigger deal than a WVO/SVO/BIO setup. The former is a months or years long process, the latter is an hours or days long process.
  16. Heat it to at least 90C and you will be fine. The higher viscosity means it needs to be heated to be injected and properly atomized. Failure to inject with a low viscosity fuel can lead to polymerization in the engine. Biodiesel's viscosity is pretty much the same as petroleum diesel. Heating the fuel before burning it is needed for running WVO, which is what Joop is talking about. biodiesel viscosity at higher temperatures is about the same #2, however it DOES have a higher gel and cloud point, and more than that the viscosity does change differently than #2. And lower viscosity for diesel injection is a big deal.....and I mean a big deal. And generally the lower pressure the injection the more potential for poor atomization(which also throws some curveballs when talking about IDI vs DI) At the end of the day I still recommend heating fuel other than #2 for proper atomization, the hotter it is the better the droplet formation and the better the atomization.
  17. ya a diesel conversion is a pricey and complex proposition fyi......do you have a diesel engine in mind?
  18. Cold starts need to be done on #2 diesel, then once the engine coolant has reached operating temp you can switched to running on heated fuel. If anyone wants to know more I know A LOT about this stuff(did my senior ME thesis work with john deere developing a new calibration for running SVO/WVO)

  20. thats a WK, not a WJ. And that engine is nice, those grand cherokees actually hold their value better than similar mercedes with the same engine......what a world huh? on the 4.7, mine with an 03, 160k, was a very good running engine. Ran clean, didn't burn or leak any oil. Had power. Was plenty pleased with it, was not plenty pleased with the fuel economy though. on the flipside I had an 01 4L with 138k, and it just felt like a dog compared to an XJ with the 4L.
  21. I'm starting to think there is a special ring of hell for a$$hole code enforcement people. Not all are a$$holes though.
  22. Then you also know that cutting the roof off of the Libby is not the end - not to the crotchety old man. He won't be satisfied until he's had his way. The KJ was just the beginning and probably one of the only things he was able to get you cited for. He'll find something else and he'll call, write letters, and whine about something else. I'm sure you'll eventually receive another letter from the city. Yup I know it. This is war. I'm gearing up for the next letter already. Planning to drive up into the mountain to renew the MJ registration where it is cheaper.
  23. No kidding I know all about that, and it seems like there is always one guy in the neighborhood who is like that. In any case, roof cut off of vehicle, can't be seen over the fence, all my parts in the backyard, can't be seen over fence. I'm good.
  24. It is an eyesore........one that you can't see though. I don't even see it from my backyard....its really the side yard between my garage and my house, from where my patio is you can't really see it. It's where I kept the chickens and all my parts(sort of an out of sight out of mind sort of deal). The fence slopes down following the elevation change on my property, there is a fair amount there, perhaps maybe three feet. Which is why the top of the KJ was visible above the fence - it was further up the slope and the fence was at the bottom. I get what you mean about being able to see in, but you can't from the street(actually you couldn't even see the top of the KJ from a car, had to be in an SUV or truck to see it up close. The rest of my crap(including 2 other cars) is thoroughly hidden behind the fence. I've thought about a storage shed, but that whole part of the yard is un-level and would need a pretty good footprint leveled for one. For years I have thought about getting a bunch of rail road ties and leveling out one cars worth of space to the right of my driveway, allow for additional parking and more room to pull a vehicle into the backyard. Ideally I would have gravel leveled parking along my right side of my driveway, and then behind my fence a paved parking space where I could store/work on another vehicle. At the end of the day though my neighbors really have no reason to complain. I may work on cars and have stuff around, but I don't keep crap out where it can be seen, thats what my side yard is for. These are the best I could find to show how my side yard slopes in relation to the rest of the block:
  25. that'll be a fine little car to DD. much of the suspension is similar to a z32.....I said similar not the same, don't expect parts to crossover. And of course there is the ubiquitous SR20DET swap.......I would not mind doing a 97+ s14 with an SR20DET some day.....
