  1. I seem to have two spots leaking right now. I have the entire inside gutted, and it has rained like heck here over the last few weeks. Both leaks are on the passenger side. The front leak appears to be coming from up under the dash, though I haven't pinpointed it yet. Looks like on the firewall wall somewhere. The rear leak is from the sliding window. It looks like it is pooling in the slider rail, then coming over the inside lip and down the back of the cab. Other than silicone, how can I fix this?
  2. No, does not pull in either direction and runs right down the middle of the lane. Just because it doesn't pull doesn't mean it is aligned. Check your toe specs and see what you get. You want it a little toed in. I usually just get a buddy and hold a tape measure on the front side of the tires between two equal lugs, then do the same behind the tires. I go with 1/2" toe in as a max. I've gotten death wobble with no noticeable pull in either direction. Also check your ball joints.
  3. Per a few guys at Superior, all gears are made at the same plant in India or China (I can't remember which). So if you buy Superior, Yukon, Genuine, they all come from basically the same place, just a different package.
  4. TJ on 42's, leaf-sprung front, outboarded hangers. It still gets death wobble. Much easier to fit the leafs than the 4 link Clayton's that was in the original plan.
  5. Excellent...thanks guys. So would I need to run my VIN to verify what specific model I have? I just checked, and I can get the 4X4 emblems from the dealer still....but they run $17.00 each  I'm going to call on the Comanche emblems today and see if they can still get those.
  6. I'm headed to Jelico Tennessee for WERock. We are competing in the Modified Stock class. It should be a good weekend if the rain holds off.
  7. 2 part post: 1. Can you still get new Comanche emblems out there? Dealer? Aftermarket? 2. Anyone have a layout of emblems for each model? My 90 never got them put back on after the previous owner tried to repaint everything. The only one on it right now is the 4.0 Litre emblem on the tailgate, and I would like to know which ones I need to get to restore it back. I guess I'll need to run the VIN to see what model it is?
  8. Yeah Pete, Skyjacker makes one that we sell. I was thinking about that after I posted. Does the TJ trans also clock the t-case higher? Would it be simpler to just buy the shorter output shaft and rebuild my current 2WD tranny to a 4WD one? What else would I need to make it a 4WD tranny? Everything I have read the last few weeks ( a TON of stuff ) and no one mentions doing this. Seems like it is as straight forward as a rebuild, right?
  9. Well fellas, here it goes. I am getting a free AX15 this weekend out of a 94 YJ. Previous owner tells me it works, but has slop in it. This tranny has the external slave, correct? Hopefully I can rebuild her to be put in my MJ. What else is needed in the general tranny area? Here is what I have: 1990 MJ 4.0, 2WD AX15 I am assuming I can rebuild this 94 YJ AX15 to be put in the MJ with no problems? I have a ton of writeup info on the rebuild, as well as the 94 YJ Jeep Service manual. After reading on all the problems of what fluid to run, I have settled on Redline MT-90 after it is ready to go back in. The current plan is to keep it 2WD for a while, until I have all my parts lined up. I have the 4WD shifter and linkage out of a 98 TJ. Will that work in the MJ without too much modification? I also have an 8.8 and the spring perches that I plan to do SOA on when the time comes. Plan on a HP 30 for the front. Anyone rebuilt an AX15? I work at 4WD Hardware, so I have access to any of the internals that might need replaced, as well as some tech guys here that know a thing or two.
  10. Make sure to get some "Chowdah"
  11. Carp...I thought this was a Red Sox- Dodgers thread... :brows:

    Howdy!

Thanks for the welcome guys! I do see that I am close to a few 'burgh guys! I hate to tell you, but I am neither a Browns or a Steelers fan... I'm an old Chicago Bears fan from back in 85...I was young and impressionable in my youth! Dane Cook is the man! (at least he used to be...his new stuff really brings the suck...) On the MJ side of things...just got a PM on another board from a buddy at a dealership that says someone is looking to trade in a beat Pioneer!! It appears my Comanche hunt may be starting already. I was just hoping to start learning all I could for now, and get a rig a year or so down the line. If this thing has any hope at all, I'll be down for it. Got a line on a complete 03 TJ straight 6 with the 4 speed tranny...$1500.00. the thing only has 15,000 on it. Guy did a Hemi swap and is looking to unload it. What is the feasibility of dropping that in to an MJ?

    Howdy!

Just wanted to introduce myself... My name is Aaron, but I go by LoTGoD on most of the big Jeep boards out there. I live in Columbiana, OH Currently I am running the search portion of the 4WD.com website, and I administer a few forums as well... 4WD and Northeast Crawlers, and JeepsUnlimited if the admin is out. I don't have a Comanche yet, but I have been reading all the build threads, and taking is as many ideas as possible. Most of my time (as soon as the weather is nice and I get rid of this cold) will be re-fixing my 03 TJ. The pinion bearing is shot on the rear 60 (second one) and I need to get the other tube fender installed. At this point I am looking long term for an MJ build...probably start with a frame and cab, and go from there. Nothing radical, as this will be a DD. I have mostly been influenced by the Currie MJ parts getter, and an MJ from a user on the 4WD forum. Probably 33's at the most, and a comparable lift. That's about it. Let me know if there is anything I can help you guys with . Thanks, -LoTGoD
