  1. I just lost the rubber seal that goes on the outside of the door at the bottom of the window. It's been loose since I bought the truck, now it's gone. I hope you know what I mean, and does anyone have one for sale?
  2. It seems that the AAA guy got it wrong. I needed a starter relay. Replaced that, still no go. Got a new battery, old one was 5 years old, started right up!!!!
  3. Having a real hard time trying to transfer pics. Does the Ford remote style have one big lug, and 3 "push-pull" l connectors? And if so, have you used one? Part store's and or part numbers? Thanks for your help, but I've searched local parts stores and got the same answer...maybe Ford part? Also, do these have to be "stock" parts or can you substitute with an "it fits/it works part:? Or I guess I'm also asking...is a relay , a relay ? Thanks, Jim
  4. It's mounted on the inner fender near the battery, has about 5 leads hooked up to a post and 3 push pull connectors. Got home today (drove the other vehicle to work) it started right up. Pulled off all the leads carefully (didn't mix them up) cleaned them and ...nothing. Charged it a bit, still nothing. I need to get a new one. Don't want to pay $100.00 though! I'll get a pic up ASAP.
  5. Drove the truck home from work, stopped on the way went to start it ...nothing. AAA comes tries to jump it...nothing, then the guy gets a screwdriver and starts tapping on the sylenoid and it fires right up. He said I probably need a new one.The NAPA guy said he shows a Ford one for $25.00. Can they be interchanged? I know if I buy it and it doesn't work it's still mine, places won't take back electrical parts. Advance has the right one (I guess) for $100.00 and won't get it until Friday. By the way it has the 2.5l gas engine.
  6. Is the location of the "rear speakers" in a Comanche that "grill" at the bottom of the plastic panels where the seat belts are? I want to buy new speakers and want to install them in the right spot. Thanks
  7. cruiser54, AWESOME description! Thank you so much. When I looked at the replys, I was almost expecting "up, or down". I tightened them, and the e-brake still doesn't hold. I'm going to try it again. Thanks!
  8. I have a 1986 Comanche,I need to adjust the rear drum brakes , to save myself some time....which direction do I need to go .....up / or down, to tighten the brakes?
  9. Last year I replaced the rear brakes on the Comanche, new e-brake cable too. MA state inspection said "it doesn't hold". Adjusted the new shoes so friggin' tight the truck barely moved, well they were tight. Finally passed. This year...same thing...."it doesn't hold". Really? I know MA is an A-Hole about inspections but come on!!!! Are there any tricks to get this thing to hold? Thanks, Jim
  10. jimoshel, the second set of pics with the holes for the lug nuts is what I have. Yes they have the metal clips, some stuck in the plastic hub caps, most stuck on the wheels themselves. I'll try the lubercant and Vicegrips. I guess I'll be needing to go the wanted section to look for some new ones. Thanks!
  11. I have an 86 Comanche Custom with the little black "hub caps". One is on a wheel, the other three aren't. These are the little black plastic ones. They seem to have had little clips in them that attach to points on the wheel. Most of the caps don't have the clips in them, they seem to be still on the wheels. Are there any tricks to getting the clips off the wheels? I've tried vice grips etc. Does anyone have pics of the back of the hub caps with the clips in place?
  12. How exactly do those little "hub cap" things attach to the wheels? I have rusty little nubs on my wheels I don't know how to get off. I have 3 hubcaps with empty little holes. I'm guessing the hubcaps have little things in them that clip on to the wheels?
  13. I replaced my wiper motor last weekend...AWESOME write-ups in the DIY section. I had no problems at all removing and replaceing it. I also replaced the bushings as was suggested. The first rain was great, they wiped like champs. But yesterday on the way to work....in the dark... they worked fine until about a 1/2 mile from work, where they stopped mid-wipe, started after a bit, then stopped, etc. This is just whay they were doing before!!! Is there someting else to check? Thanks, Jim
  14. My Bad...I reread them and the arm removal is one of the first pics. Lesson learned.....don't drink and post without carefully reading first. It's been a long week!

  16. I will be replacing the wiper motor in my truck this weekend. I've read the DIY writeups but did'nt see anything about removing the wiper arms. Do you just pry out that clip at the stalk, or is there a trick to it? Thanks, Jim

  18. Duh for me on the hose, I should have figured that out! Well it sounds like the ecu tells the engine what to do. Could certainly explain the on / off performance issues. I don't want to ask, but that's probly an expensive item to replace? Also probly be a dealer item (yikes). Would you just remove the cover and replace a unit inside, like a circut board or something?
  19. I kept hearing a rattle under the dash (86 Comanche 2.5, 5 spd ) tracked it down to a box mounted to the left of the ashtray. It says Renix on it, with a large bundle of wires coming out of it. The manuals I have says it is located near the battery. I've felt around, and nothing seems to be loose. There is what seems to be a plate it is attachet to. I tie wired it tight and it seems to have stopped rattlaling. The truck also stumbles / hestates while driving. As of today it does'nt. Any coments...sugestions? Pics And what the heck does this hose do??? Thanks people! Jim
  20. Does anyone have 2 equalizer bars with working springs for rear drum brakes for an 86 Comanche? The po of mine or someone welded the springs so they can't move. I was replacing the rear shoes, and the brakes won't compress enough to get the drum on. A guy who does brakes for a living pointed out the welds and said the spring should be able to compress. Parts stores have no listings and suggest junk yards. The few junk yards so no. :ack:
  21. Does anyone know where I can find the equalizer bars for the e-brake for my 86 Comanche? I talked to a guy from Auto Z...and he really knew his stuff, he also owns a Wrangler, but no match in the store. He did a lot of work trying to help me, but couldn't. Any help would be apreciated. The springs at the back of mine were welded by a PO. Who knows why. I was doing a brake job, and the shoes would not compress enough to put the drum back on...a 2nd opinion pointed out that the springs were welded on. What The ???? Also, I removed ALL of the lug nuts last Sat., spent about an hour hacking, tearing & ripping off that tin crap that passes for CHROME. Got them all off, greesed them and put them back on. So tonight all but one came off......one week!!!!!! It striped! I spent about an hour and a 1/2 hammering/chisinig to get it off while my buddy was trying to figure out why the drum wouldnt fit back on. Pics to come! After 4 hours we called it a night. A great end to a long week.
  22. ONE...Because I paid $250.00 for it. It was from my best friend. It had 97,000 miles on it...solid body TWO...2.5l 4 cyl. 5 spd THREE...free cap for the bed last... I've been driving it for about 5 years, only routine maintenence, about 107,000 on the clock, daily driver, hauls my lawnmowers, fire wood, junk. Do I need to go on??? I LOVE my Comanche!!!!
  23. Does anyone know where to get "exact fit" grommets for PCV & what ever the other hose is? I'm going to buy a steel valve cover to replace my cracked plastic one, but both gromets, plus the filler cap leak like crazy! Want to replace all three! Here's a pic of the old cover, and the hoses. Thanks much! Jim oh, by the way 1986 2.5l 4cyl.
