  1. Good to know CA, gracias.
  2. Maybe for you it is, for us Canadians crossing into the US my arse hurts after.
  3. Yeah, I want to drive it sometime lol. OK to edit my question now. Since it is an 86 what year(s) dash is plug and play so to speak?
  4. Yikes, I wasn't planning on modifying the firewall. I'm going to look for an older dash that matches mine. All the controls and heater boxes are still attached I just need a dash.
  5. 3m super 77 adhesive spray at home hardware.
  6. My truck came without a dash. I might as well put a 97+ in, it looks slick. I do know that since mine is an 86 that some parts are not interchangeable, does that include interior parts such as the dash? Any pointers in regards to removal of donor dash? I'm hoping to find one at the wreckers this weekend. Thanks.
  7. OK I like where this is going. What's the spline count on the output shaft on a stock 4x4 904 transmission? Just trying to figure out which t-case I would be able to get (231?). Eagle I think shipping to British Columbia may be a bit high let me know the next time you are on Vancouver Island though. ;) Thanks for the info guys, awesome forum.
  8. I just realized it's an 86 not an 87. If the transmission is stock it is probably the a904 as Genovast posted. Only one way to tell but it's been so lousy out here on the wet coast I can't get under her. That and I haven't actually told my wife about "trucky" yet... I read somewhere that 86 is a bed year for interchangeable parts who here has an 86?
  9. I don't mean to sound like a fool but I'm still looking for an answer to my original question. I totally agree that everyone should know how to drive stick. I just prefer to not have to replace the clutch every winter. So rainy here, no way I can work on the truck probably a good day for the tree stand.
  10. We have a little girl and she won't come out unless she has an auto it's just safer for everyone. Neither of them will ride with me.
  11. Well on the bright side... I have options!
  12. I just sealed her up for the day, hoping to get her to the booth this weekend so I will check the trans then. I have feeling it might be a rare combination (2.5/auto/4x4), also pretty sure my rear end is 4.56 which I assume is also difficult to find a front axle to match without re-gearing. Regarding the woman driving stick, I did get a rebuilt np207 and rebuilt peugot trans & clutch thrown in the deal as nobody else wanted them who knows I might just go ahead with that program and swap it out if it grenades. PO did run a transmission shop before he died maybe he made them beefier.
  13. Just pulled my new comanche project off the trailer. 87 2wd 2.5 auto. Now I have searched the forums and the internet for an answer to my question but I jsut can't seem to find an answer specific to the 2.5, everyone seems to prefer the 4.0l. I will be doing the 4x4 swap eventually but I want to keep it auto so my woman can use it on mild trails without ending up in the trees or rolling into me when she can't get the pedals straight. It happens. Sigh. What are my options for an automatic?

    Mosin Or Yugo?

If you had to pick one or the other eh... If you are in a tree stand go with the mosin and 870. The mosin are heavy and noisy, not good for sneaking up on deer and the safety is horrible. I have not hunted with my sks yet but I plan on it, it's a nice light gun the stock field sights are awesome and the soft point rounds I bought here in Canada will kill a deer easy < 100yd. If you already have a remington 870 that's a deer killing gun as well I use one in the field and get really nice grouping playing around at 50-100 yards with slugs and 00. Got one hanging right now with about 18 holes in its neck. Happy Hunting!
  15. Hey dude I'm in Nanaimo where on the Island are you?
  16. New to this forum, I usually play with xj's and cj's but have had a hankering to get one of these cool little trucks. I bought an all original '86 I4 2wd Auto from someone who passed away before he could finish it. I have a feeling it will be a bit more of a project than originally thought, as usual... He bought at the dealership, drove it for 10 years before the head gasket let go. Things got out of control as he decided to pull the motor and have it completely rebuilt. Dash is missing as he was planning some kind of custom dash with volvo boat guages. He sourced all the 4x4 components with the exception of the front axle (diff& trans), rebuilt the rear end, all new brakes, lines, etc... The list goes on. The truck is in excellent running condition - besides the missing dash and no paint. First step is to have it prepped and painted (drab) so I can drive it for the winter and pick away at the 4wd conversion. I saw a wee little np207 in the pile so I might be looking for some better components we will see. Will start a build thread later once I figure out what I have. Ideally I want to keep the swap simple and keep the auto trans, will have to do some more research one I get it in the driveway tomorrow. Not planning to build a wheeler out of this one... yet. I am in Nanaimo so a shout out to any islanders, I might be needing some parts yo... ~ws
