  1. The auxiliary fan in my 88 comanche 4.0 5 speed is not coming on. I have checked all the connections and ground and all checked out. I diconected the fan and "Jumped" it and it worked so I checked the next thing down the line which is the relay on the side of the air filter - the relay checked out fine with a voltimeter next I checked for power at the relay and I think here is my problem because I do not have a constant 12V at the relay (red wire) so I follow the red wire all the way to the other side of the engine and it terminates at the a/c relay - do not understand because as far as I know it is supposed to be a source of direct 12 volts. The book refers to a fusible link at the end of this red wire but I could not find it! where is the power coming from to the aux.fan? anybody trobleshoot this before? any help is apricieted. Is there a fuse I'm missing here?
  2. You forgot to add that as a bonus when you engage the lawn mower lever the MJ crawls realy slow....

  7. I want to buy and install a class 3 Hitch from Hidden Hitch, they list one for the longbed but does not mention the shortbed which is what I have. Does it makes a difference, anyone has any experience with this before. Thanks Juan.
  8. CWLONGSHOT, I'm having the same problem - let us know how you make out finding a place to install the hilift. I got one but is in the corner in the garage because I can not decide where to put it... JR.
  9. Ok - the reverse lights are not working on my 88 comanche, 6cyl, 5 speed so I started trobleshoting with the basic stuff - checked the light bulbs and wiring, checked the fuse and checked the reverse switch on the side of the tramsmision - all checked out fine. I went as far as dsconnecting the wire plug located at the rear of the comanche just behind the rear driver side wheel to check for continuity between the bulbs and the plug, also did the same continuity check between the reverse switch contacts on the side of the transmission and as far as I could trace it which is another plug located below the heater hoses entering the firewall - all checked ok. I stopped there because the wires enter another main loop full of wires and I just did not know where they go. So somwhere in between I'm not getting 12v. what else can I do or checked - anyone had this problem
  10. I just got done swaping a 231 for a 242 because the 242 exploded, I have done this swap twice already and I have both t-cases next to each other and the difference in size is 1/4 to 3/8 on an inch. This is direct swap providing you have the right spline count and the t-case are from the same vehecle - for instace if you are doing this on an xj make sure the donor t-case is from an xj, the last xj I did the t-case came out a YJ and I had to change the front yoke to match the xj one in order to bolt the front driveshaft, and in case you are wondering the 242 and 231 yokes are not interchangables.
  11. thanks... I needed that measurement also!!!
