aw4/dana300 confusion
manche_mane replied to manche_mane's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ok. thanks. that must be what it was. i saw a couple old jeeps at his place but didn't check them out -
it's been a while since i've been on here or tinkered with my 90, so I'm a little confused about how i should go about finishing my project... currently, my mj is still 2wd, 4.0 it is on full width 44/60s (passenger side drop) i bought a dana300 t case from a guy on craigslist, and it is connected to a b/w t5 (he gave it to me, said it was from his yj or tj...i can't remember) i don't want to manual swap it. i know i will need an adapter to use the dana 300 i found an aw4 from a 98 grand cherokee i guess my question is can i use my 90 harness with the 98 and still drive it regardlesss if the speedo works? or should i keep looking for an old aw4? any other things i will run into if my aw4/dana300 setup goes together? (i know ill need to figure out the front d/s) thanks in advance for any help, if any

OK...I saw the thread saying it was no more...so I started searching elsewhere. But this is good. Thanks

I searched and seen that hell creek is no more...and Rusty's breaks... I see that generalspringkc.com have military wrapped.... Is there a favorite place to get a lift spring?

I think the bars that connect to the wheel well are ok but more cosmetic. if I made my own, I would want them to connect to the floor and bolt or weld onto the frame

How Does Part #8 Work Exactly?
manche_mane replied to 91Pioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my air box was removed but I still have that piece. it has a twig plugging one side... :dunno: -
Well, I figured out that the two middle ends are for the drag link and the top and bottom are for the tie rod. I forgot that two ends are left hand thread. They go on the passenger side. as for the arms not being the same (the offset tie rod holes), I think it will be ok. If not, I will buy a new end and go crossover. The arms are different because I bought the last kit and the package was damaged in the mail and the driver side arm was lost. The seller replaced it at his expense...

I have 2 questions. I was hoping that some of you can help me out... First, Will this be a problem if I run my tie rod on the arms with the holes not being straight across? Second, I know that the bottom rod end goes to the passenger side knuckle and drag link, but does it matter where i connect the other ends? (for the drag link and other tie rod end)

not much to add because ive been waiting on nice weather and time off work but i did give my "5.3" to my brother because his 4.8 silverado is eating bearings. he started taking it apart and found thatit says 4.8 on the head gasket.. and of course the 4.8/5.3 markings.. also i waas told the 5.3 has 708 heads. this says 706..anyone know if this is true? -

Welp, the 305 ain't going in. I traded the th400 for an 03 5.3 with 90k all wiring and computer. wiring looks like a pain but the motors rated at like 27* hp. now I need a tranny. got my axle ready today too. the problem now is that I can't get the pitman arm off even with puller, blaster and map gas... -edit: after quick research it appears that heat shouldn't be used on the pitman arm sooo the steering box may need rebuilt or changed because I heated that thing good -

true dat. the specs i found for 4.0 vs 305 tbi are: 177hp/220tq - 4.0 175hp/250tq - 305 so pretty even considering my 4.0 has had problems the whole time ive had it. almost bought a tbi 350 a few days ago but it wasnt worth the drive. ill aquire parts and the time will come. can't wait to put all fours on the ground thogh so i can move it for my other baby... needs paint and new engine as well. i like to switch between projects. here is my 91 infiniti m30.. -

got my new track bar. clayton cut-to-fit 6-8". not what i ordered and customer service sucked(not through clayton) but atleast they hooked me up with a quality product.. i beleive this is a 2" drop bracket. this might be my favorite part about the kit -

the thing is, if I put it in there, it will probably stay until it needs replaced. it will be 5-600 dollars for headers, mounts and oil filter adapter, plus all tune up parts. I think I will go that route but that might change tomorrow Lol. in the mean time I'm going to post the t cases I don't need on craigslist for money toward the swap. I may even sell the 4.0 as is running but cracked or warped head(I think) -

After researching the horsepower and torque of the 305 vs 4.0, I think I'm going to just get my head rebuilt and buy lower gears from the guy who gave me all this stuff. Looks like the 305 only has ~10 more HP and torque. Which is a bummer but at least I'll be driving the truck sooner. I'm going to find a 4wd aw4 for now. I'm going to sell the 305 and buy a 350. i bought an np203 from a friend for $50. The same guy rebuilds engines and said the 305 is different on the inside and can't be bored to 350 -

thats how they were facing stock. the upper arms are like a fork and bolt around the mount, not inside. i said the same thing when i saw he did that and had to pull up some pics -

here is where we're at as of today might be a little hard to tell but my buddy did carry over the castor as close as he could from the stock axle this is the problem we ran in to. looks like we need to raise the driver side uca mount an inch or two. hopefully it won't hurt being further away from the lca mounts... -
