Comanche Trailhawk: DD and Mild Wheeler
jbain replied to Trailhawkmj's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Nice work! -
Thanks, I really do like them. But it doesn't look like I will be able to use the center caps.

Finished setting up the 8.8 with a fresh set of 4.88's and an ARB. Can't wait to get it under the truck.
-
Went up to Davey's Jeep today and picked up 5 factory Golden Eagle rims. Gonna.look sweet wrapped in 37 Pitbull Rockers.
-
Right on, I appreciate the input.

Took advance of the sun today to finally get the MJ bumpers primed. I had planned to coat them in a Duplicolor spray bedliner but it was way too heavy and splattered everywhere. What is everyone using for a textured look to their bumpers?

Brown truck dropped off my remaining pieces of the Comanches front links. I decided to stay with a 3 link so I'm upgrading the single upper from a 7/8th heim to a 1.25 Barnes Enduro.

Time to get this 8.8 disassembled and cleaned up. I'm pretty excited to drop it off Monday for some fresh 4.88s and an ARB.

Thought I'd tear into the winch this morning and troubleshoot my power out not in issue. Ive never cracked open a solenoid cover before so I was a little overwhelmed at first but after peeling everything back it's pretty straightforward. Looks like 1 bad in and 1 intermittent out.

Thanks man, I still have the step bumper on my truck so I haven't installed this on yet. If you just want a static measurement then I can get that for you now.

Mine also had no panel and like you I have never seen one. However looking at my B-Pillar plastic there are 2 notches on each side. So I cut out my Luan Board including 2 tabs for each side that coincided with the notches in the plastic. This is what I used to hold it in place.

As for the Resin I bought a gallon and probably used about half that. For the backboard I used a piece of Luan from Lowe's. If I remember right it was 46 wide 18 1/2 on the edges tapering to 16 1/4 in the center. I actually left it 48 inches wide and cut out two 1 inch Notches to slide behind the B-Pillar plastic.

Haven't been looking forward to building a rear panel for the truck. But it wasn't too bad. Time for fabric.

I'll be there. -
Dirtbound OffRoad sent me a couple lower rear bedside armor for my bumper. Very beefy and fits the bedside perfectly.

Disassembled the HP 44 this afternoon to check gears, bearing ect. I always hold my breath every time I open a diff cover, but i was happy to find no chips, excessive wear or metal shavings. Time to give it a coat of paint and roll it under the Comanche.

I wasn't given a choice but these guys are building them as they go so I'm sure they would work with you.

Took the entire day to strip, lengthen and solder the rear harness's back to the tail lights. Since the XJ ran the tail light harness back both sides I had to remove the fuel tank to get the driver's side in. This job took much longer than expected but I'm glad it's finished. Now that I have lights I can start driving it.
