  1. Don't know if this helps you or not. Not exactly a real MJ, just something I put together a while back. It is Orange though. The full post link is here. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... highlight=
  2. Well... I live in Arizona ...az... And pretty much grew up with Jeeps. Love 'em, hate 'em, drive me outta my freakn' mind, can't live without 'em :D
  3. Looking at an '88 2.5L 4 Cyl. Anyone have any info on that? Pros, cons, major problems, etc...? I've dealt with several 4.0 I6's, but never this motor. The motor will be swapped out eventually, but that will be a ways down the road.
  4. ARRRRG! You suck, you suck, you suck!!! :headpop: I live in Phoenix as well, was watching that truck, and was one paycheck away from buying it. Arrrrrg! AND, my plans for it were very similar to yours. Damnit, damnit, damnit! Congrats though, that was a good find. Keep us posted on the mods. If you change your mind and decide to sell it before it's too molested, feel free to PM me. :brows:
  5. Nice MJ, but 6 Grand.... http://cosprings.craigslist.org/car/556209054.html
  6. Finally, some one has come up with a product that women can give to their men, and we'll actually appreciate it. Woo Hoo!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=_HjQEceCDxw
  7. Hmmm... that doesn't seem to be the case here in AZ. Discount tire had no problem putting 33x12.5's on my ZJ. It also doesn't get to 4 degrees in Phoenix :D
  8. Great video. Their site http://4xforum.com/ has a lot more great info. Just added it to my Favorites.
  9. Would love to get my hands on a Willy's MA. 1553 built before going to the MB. http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Poster/MA.html But honestly, if you want to find a truly RARE Jeep, just visit e-bay motors. Every other Jeep listed on there is listed as "Rare", or "Hard to find." According to some idiot, my '98 ZJ is rare! WooHoo, I'm rich!!
  10. Any one use or have an opinion on Iterco's SSR's or Truxus MT's? Mainly tread wear & off-road perfomance/durability.
  11. I guess I need to mention that my boss was there also, who happens to be one of the PROPERTY OWNERS and gave me permission to drive in there. I probably should've mentioned that in the original post. I got blasted on another site and had my post removed. God forbid a tree hugger see off-roaders, off-roading, on an off-roading website.
  12. File under: "Seemed like a good idea at the time." The industrial park I work in has a rock garden at one end, that's part of the drainage system. Problem is, it doesn't drain so well. When ever it rains, the rock garden fills up. I've worked at this spot for 4yrs now, and every time it rains, I'm tempted to drive through it. Well, this past weekend we had 2 solid days of rain here in Phoenix,(Yes, really)the rock garden was overflowing, and I couldn't resist any longer. It was about 2 to 2 1/2 ft deep at it's lowest point, but its all river rock, so I figured I had a solid bottom to drive over. As I pulled over the curb onto the dirt, I immediately realized that it was completely saturated and no longer dirt. How did I come to this realization you ask? Well..... The 1st photo shows the rock garden the following day, after it'd drained a bit. Red arrow pionts to high water mark. The other day time-shots were the following morning when I went in to survey and repair the damage.(last 2 shots are of the repair) Luckily, some co-workers hung around to see me drive through the water, so there were plenty of recovery vehicles. (plus a warehouse full of Hummers) One of my bubbys helped pull me out w/ his ZJ. The whole thing only lasted about 15 mins, but we all had a good laugh out of it. Who'd a thunk street wheeln' could be so dangerous :rotfl2:
  13. Okay, never mind. As soon as I posted this, the ad was removed from Autotrader. Apparently some one informed the dealer that it was a Toyota Tundra, NOT a Jeep Comanche. Oh well, was funny at the time.
  14. Found this on Autotrader.com. Looks sweet, I love Jeep's new logo in the grill. What the hell? http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?

Yea, the Brutes are nice, but as mentioned above, VERY expensive. Cheaper the chop the top off an MJ, and pretty much have the same thing. In response to girsmj86's question, "Isn't the Scrambler a CJ-8?" Yes. Looks very similar to the Brute. Rear wheels are close to the cab, w/ a fair amount of over hang from the bed. The JT is more like the CJ-6, which was a streched CJ-5. The rear wheels were pushed all the way to the rear, leaving almost no over hang.
  16. Thought as much. I'm not neccessarily looking for a front 44. I am looking for a rear. Answered an ad that said he had front & rear 44 for $250. When I got there, the rear was a 35. So was just curious if the front could be worked, but guess not.
  17. I have a VERY small window of opportunity to buy a front D44 for $150 off a local guy. Says it came off a '74 Dodge truck. Here's the issue though. It looks like it's set up the opposite of a Jeep axle. If you're looking at the front of the diff cover, (wide side on left & narrow side on right), the diff would be on the passenger side of the vehicle. kinda weird. Wondering if it's possibe to have the tubes pulled & switched to opposite sides, or if that's even neccassary. The tubes would have to be shortened anyway, they measure at 65" track width. I don't care about any of the gearing because it would all be upgraded, & new perches and brackets would go on with a truss. Basically want the diff housing & tubes. It also doesn't appear to be an HP. Is this axle worth the $150, and the hassel to set it up for my Jeep? What price range would I be looking at with that kind of work?
  18. Well, according to their ad, "You can buy with confidence and with no fear of overpaying." WTF!?
  19. It's a rear axle on my ZJ (sorry, still looking for an MJ :D ) It's a D44A, which is why I'm trying to upgrade to a cast iron unit. If I changed my bolt pattern to, say a 5x5.5 (in the new axle) I'd have to get a new brake set-up wouldn't I? The current brake won't transfer over will they? I'm starting to notice in my research that there doesn't seem to be a lot of support for the stock 5x4.5. Is the 5x5.5 more common & easier to get parts for?
  20. Okay, this will sound stupid to you guys who've been building a while, but.... I'm looking at upgrade axles. (Dana 44's) When they're talking about the "Bolt Pattern", it's the bolts or lugs the wheels bolt onto right? Or is it something else? How exactly does that effect the brakes? For example, If I'm buying a 44 diff and tubes(no shafts or gears, just an empty housing) and my wheel lug pattern is 5 on 4.5, does it really matter what the bolt pattern is, or vehicle the axle came off of since I'll be putting in new shafts & gears? So long as the axle width is corect anyway. Like I said, this may be a stupid question, but I've never done anything with axles before. Well, except brake them :D

They've been testing consumer response here in the states. It would be easy to produce since it's already in production over seas. The foreign military version, (Egypt, Israel, couple others I think..) is the JK frame with heavy duty leaf springs in the rear. It would be nice to have it, but not holding my breath with Chrysler's track record. As some one else noted in their post, it would be better with a seperated bed. With the one piece body, and wheels all the way at the rear, it's pretty much an updated CJ-6. I've been trying to score a CJ-6 for about 3 years now.
  22. Any one out there use Pro Comp mud terrains? Are they good tires or not? I was looking at putting 15" Pro Comp 97 Soft 8 rims on my Jeep with 33" Toyo Open Contry MT's. Then I saw this today. http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx? ... rtID=15698 Approx. $250 to $300 less than what I was going to pay. Not the same tire, but same rim, and a great price. Its' only good this week, should I bite, or is the Toyo worth waiting another couple paychecks for? Any ideas?
  23. Be careful getting a D44 from a grand. This is the whole reason I asked this question in the 1st place. (little did I know that this thread would have a life of it's own)I'm replacing the dana 44A from my grand. The "A" stands for "Aluminum". Might as well stand for "@$$" for all it's worth. One of Chrysler's many attempts at fast, cheap production. It's strength sucks, and no one makes any parts for it. Aussie-Locker used to make a locker for it but no longer. The housing is shaped different from the cast iron 44, so you can't get a diff guard or any gaskets for it. Believe me, I've tried :wall:
  24. Hmmm... so what about gearing? I want to be able to cruise @ 65-75MPH comfortably since it's my DD, but I want to turn 33's offroad without blowing my gears.
  25. Looking at upgrading my rear end (on my truck ;) ). Been keeping an eye out for an iron 44, but have seen a bunch of Jeep guys going to the Ford 8.8. Any one know the reason for this? is it stronger, easier to get? How do the compare?
