Removing Emblems and Letters prior to paint?

Getting ready to do some body work and paint to me Comanche. My question is, how do you remove the Comanche Emblems and Jeep letters off of the body without breaking them? Also, can they be re-attached with glue or adhesive?

you should be able to get them off pretty easily by carefully taking a razor blade between the emblem and the sheet metal. Use a double sided foam tape to re-use the old ones.. I wouldn't recommend glueing them, they'll never come off.

Do pins hold them on or are they bolted on? I am talking about the 4.0 , Jeep, and Comanche emblems or logos.

to the best of my knowledge they are only held in place by a foam type tape. no rivets, pins, etc.

The only place that any emblem is held in place with a pin is in the front. Each Jeep letter is on its own "pin" that has a nut holding it on.

The JEEP letters are held on by two pins each (one with a sheet metal nut) on 86-90 models and adhesive on 91 & 92 models.
