Ben-88Comanche
Ok, so in the process of putting a new front end on my truck, my friend who was helping me removed my wipers to remove that plastic piece that goes between the hood and the windshield. I wasnt paying attention (changing valve cover gasket) and he also put the wipers back on afterwords. I have never taken windshield wipers off, and now I tried using them when it rained only to find they don't work. The motor is trying to move them, but they just lock up in as low of a position as they can get. Again, don't know how they came off, don't know how they went back on, if anyone knows what the problem might be, would be helpful. Thanks
fiatslug87
Remove them by lifting them up so they bend at the hinge at the base and pull the little tab at the base to lock them in that position, you might need a screw driver to move the tab. Then pull straight off. Without the wiper arms on the vehicle see if the motor turns the wiper mechanism. If it does, turn off the wipers so they home to the correct position then reinstall the wiper arms. If the motor doesn't turn the mechanism check for any obstructions or any loose/damaged connections in the mechanism.
HOrnbrod
Yeah, like fiatslug87 says. Sounds like the wipers were re-installed when the motor was not parked correctly. Pull the wipers then turn them on for a couple of cycles, then off so they park. Then re-insert the wipers as below: Image Not Found

mvusse
Well, I guess you're no smarter than the rest of us, then. :D The instructions are always a last resort. REAL men shouldn't need them... Which is why I usually break stuff the first time taking something off.
