tkgibbs27
is needed to fill her up with? i have about a quarter inch on the stick, so i need to put some in and i want to make sure i get enough so i don't have to make a second run.
mvusse
From the add mark to the top of the hashed part (full) is exactly 1 qt. If you only have a quarter inch on the stick I'd say 2 quarts. But if it's that low between oil changes, I'd buy a third so you have it for when it's low again. You must be leaking or burning it quite badly to lose that much. tkgibbs27
this has been the first time i checked it since i got it, which isn't a good idea, and i haven't put any in it neither. once i get some more in there, i will check on it about every two days for awhile to see if there are any problems. i know it's not leaking, there aren't any oil spots on the ground where i park it, i have been underneath and it looks pretty good and clean. Twisty
After an oil change, I always do 6 quarts.

BLHTAZ
Why not just buy 6 and a filter and do a complete change if you are unsure of how long it's been ;) .
tkgibbs27
went ahead and did that. i'll keep an eye on the oil level for the next few weeks to see if it changes dramatically.
Eagle
Guys, before you give out one-size-fits all advice -- all I see is that he owns an '89 with a 5-speed. It might be a 4.0L, which does hold 6 quarts with an oil change -- but it might be a 2.5L, which would be a quart over full with 6 quarts, and that causes the seals to blow out. Remember -- we're dealing with Jeeps. There are no absolutes.
