electrical HELP!!!!!

just got in the MJ, started it right up.... pulled the e-brake and it shut off..... turn the key..... NOTHING..... open the hood and smell an electrical burning smell over by the relay/ battery area....... WHAT HAPPENED??????

I would check fuses and what have you first.

 

Then I would probably check around the e-brake for hanging wires that may have been pinched or cut when you pulled the ebrake.

 

Your ebrake is in the center console or on the floor?

I would look by the fuse box under the drivers side. I think the e-brake cable is routed that way. Like twojeeps said maybe your ebrake pinched a wire and grounded it. Or it could be totally unrelated.

e-brake is next to clutch. it did rub the wire a little, but did not pinch. fuses are good. still nothing but the buzzer when i turn the key. lights work.

 

fuses anywhere else??

 

could it be the relays by the battery or something else in that area???

 

i see no burnt wires.

what wire is hanging down by the ebrake? Is it possible your foot caught it and pulled the wire?

sounds like a relay burnt up or a fusible link burned up.

check the green fusible link it is located near where you saw te smoke this happened to me on my auto when i applied the e brake
