maddzz1
I discovered today that it is my rear main not my drain plug  How hard is this to replace on a 1-10? I know I don't have to drop the tranny. Should I get a mopar seal or the double lipped one? Anyone in the RI or Mass area who would enjoy spending the day helping a new jeeper replace a mian seal? tjbliley
I would say a 7. Just cause of what you have to go through to get to it.
jeepthing07
I would say its about a 6 it can be kinda messy with oil dripping in your face. the only real hard part is tapping the old seal out on the block side without nicking the crank you should use a brass punch. other than that and owning a torque wrench its not bad. I have used both single and double lip seals and neither leaked double lip would be a good idea though
aemsee
Remember to check your PCV orifice. A plugged orifice will cause numerous leaks to appear.
chicofuentes0224
And the back of your valve cover gasket. It made mine look like the rear main went out too. Cleaned it up and all of a sudden no rear main seal leak
maddzz1
I already got the CCV pieces from napa to replace the old ones and I am picking up the PCV one with the new orifice tomorrow. I am waiting until I take the valve cover off and clean it to put them on. Probally this weekend. I will check the leak again after this is done. I layed under my truck for 15 min last night watching he main so I'm pretty sure that is it.
