Geonovast
One of my neighbors has a 2000(I believe) Saturn Station wagon. 4cyl Auto. It suddenly decided it won't start. It turns over, I'm 99% sure it's getting spark, and it does get a little bit of fuel. Got a few puffs of exhaust. You can hear the fuel pump prime, and I checked the fuel pump and ignition fuses, they're fine. I'm thinking the fuel pump is dead or dying, and not getting enough pressure to run. Any ideas? BLHTAZ
Sounds like a likely scenario to me. The only thing you can do to confirm it is find out what the fuel pressure is supposed to be and test it.
ifixit8
how many miles? and after you check fuel press, i'd check the timing belt. those cars love to throw a timing belt at about 100k.
dragonrider477
x2 on checking the fuel pressure.also, see if it will run on starting fluid.if it does suspect weak/no fuel pressure.all 4 cyl saturns have a timing chain, not belt.and yes,the chains do woof on these cars with high mileage. mvusse
Without being there to see and hear exactly what it does (including rythm) my bet is on the timing chain/sprockets.

Geonovast
I doubt it's the chain. If it had broke I'm sure I'd head something clinking around inside the timing cover. Also, if it did break, it's definitly and non-intereference motor cause I'm not hearing any valves bending. I do not have a fuel pressure tester, otherwise I would've checked that already. Gonna have to get ahold of one. I'm not sure on the mileage, but I know he did get a new motor within the last several years.
FxRacing282
maybe the MAS sensor is no good?
mvusse
I have had timing chain problems where the chain was fine, but the nylons teeth on the sprocket had wore down. The crank sprocket was moving the chain, but it was just sliding over the cam sprocket...
