whowey
After the thread a couple weeks ago. I got to wondering about Comanches in fire service. I found this today. David Fetherston's classic photo book Jeep: Warhorse, Workhorse & Boulevard Cruiser includes this nice shot of a 1986 J-10 Townside pickup used as an air cascade truck by the Hopatcong Fire Department in New Jersey, as well as a photo of their Comanche pickup support truck. Here is the only photo I have found of the MJ. If anyone has more or of another fire MJ, please post up.
AMCJeepMJ
Looks like a snowplow attachment at the front sans the plow.
Automan2164
Looks like a snowplow attachment at the front sans the plow. Yep, that's what the factory plow equipment looks like. I have one in the garage... ;) . I don't know of any MJ service trucks (I keep my eye out since I am a firefighter), but I do know Twin lakes, WI just re-listed their '84 j truck on ebay for 5K(9,000 original miles!): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250461935277 Thought about fashioning a fire MJ out of my project, buy painting the truck and wheels red and a white decal... I already have the blue lights, I have a fire radio, and a siren, but I don't want to change the paint from metallic grey. Rob L.

whowey
Hahahaha... Someone grave dug a three year old post from me.... I actually found a copy of the Featherstone book at a bankruptcy sale. Its really not that great of a book. But its pics of different Jeeps. Only a couple of MJ pictures. Two of the particular fire Comanche at the beginning and a few of the Ouray Tours Comanches. But thanks.. now I have another weird idea for my Comanche. Hmmm... one of my buddies has a house account at W.S. Darley...
