I lopped off about the same (not as neatly though) and still managed to mangle the sheetmetal on something (you can see the dent right in front of the bumper). I added a piece of sheetmetal underneath to keep debris from going up inside the bed sides. Later on I plan to add some armor to the area.

Jeep on!

i think it's pingpong who has the bumper that is tied into the "frame" and has gaurds that goes around underneath that area for protection. whoever it was that has it i watched a video where they slammed it on a rock and no troubles. thats what I'm planning on doing.

When the botom rear of my edget's nasty that's what I plan. Angled plate that extends from my bumper forward and is attached to the frame rail just aft of the wheelwell.

Yeah that bumper took some serous abuse  As soon as MJ jeff comes to my house it is his, as well as my rock rails I used on my rig before we chopped it.

It was made mostly out of 1/4 C-channel, and 1/4 wall rubing. It was not light, so kep that in mind when copying my Design. If I was to make it again I would make it a touch wider so I could incorparate some kind of tail light guard.

Also keep in mind that once you cut the metal off, its hard to put it back on  and even harder to stop there
