EdJarHead Posted Saturday at 08:54 PM Posted Saturday at 08:54 PM I'm working on replacing my original springs with new springs from General Springs. Have one off and removed the shackle and bushing. Trying to find a new shackle with the bushing already installed or new bushings, but keep getting ones the say they fit, but are for Cherokee and the shackle is around 1-1/4" shorter. (MOOG K10405 for example and even the MOOG site says compatible with both Comanche and Cherokee and will ride at stock height... how when they're different lengths?) The bushings I got would fit if the metal sleeve in the shackle was removed, but it is crimped in the center and that looks like it'd be way to much work to attempt that. I'm also looking for an inexpensive OEM replacement, not super heavy duty (pricey) off-road stuff.
eaglescout526 Posted Saturday at 09:00 PM Posted Saturday at 09:00 PM I rebuilt my bushings on my MJs shackles. Mutilated the XJ shackle for the bushing, pressed the old ones out on the MJ and pressed the XJ ones in. Works perfectly to this day.
Eagle_SX4 Posted Saturday at 09:07 PM Posted Saturday at 09:07 PM I have the JKS shackles on my truck and they are great. They are slightly longer than the MJ ones. The eye to eye length is 5.279". https://jksmfg.com/products/hd-leaf-spring-shackle-cherokee-xj-comanche-mj-wagoneer-sj-4c17606d?srsltid=AfmBOooVJT_SHLVlTSfgB5Cx4K-hiXMtSlKqXM1aD9BmFf_SKQP9kRsY
