New Pump not working/priming JPSU-6P4.0

Hello just replaced my fuel pump, i installed a crappy amazon one that pumped but the level sending unit crapped out, finally got the MTS JPSU-6P4.0 and had time to install today, Amazon pump was working when i took it out, i installed the JPSU-6P4.0 and to my dismay truck cranks but the pump isn’t pumping, as there’s no pressure on the fuel rail. I unplugged it, ran 12V directly to it and i can hear it running, i also checked for voltage at the undercarriage connector, ill disconnect the supply line to see if any gas comes out.  As far as i know these pumps are great. What could I have done wrong? There’s about 3 gallons of fuel in the tank so I don’t think it’s out of gas, any ideas? I’ll try to get back on it tomorrow, thanks.

I didn’t hear it prime, but i could be wrong i will look into it next time I’m around,

When I was doing my fuel pump and reinstalling the lock ring, it happened twice where the ground wire from the pump to the sending unit came loose. If not anything else, I’d pull it back out and make sure you still have good power and ground connections.

You’re correct, took the pump out yesterday and noticed the spade ground connector came loose, likely while maneuvering the pump to get it in or when tapping (with a brass chisel) the lock ring. I took it out, connected the ground, reinstalled, started the truck and engine turned over right away, and best of all, my fuel gauge is working I’ll just replace the old rubber fuel lines as prevention in the next couple of days. I had an “a-prime” amazon pump that pumped but the level indicator never did, thats why i went my MTS, a lot of fellow MJ owners swear by it. Thanks

Thank you, I also slightly squeezed the spade connector with neeedle nose pliers  for a tighter fit to make sure it didn’t come loose. Also cleaned and greased (de-ox) the harness connection

Bosch makes  a fantastic upgraded pump. That pump plus the MTS SU is what's considered to be most reliable/highest quality among stock applications. It's discontinued, so you'd have to grab it off ebay. Just a thought if (God forbid) your pump goes out soon. I have heard mixed things from the MTS house brand fuel pump

That was my first choice but could not find a bosch pump, just the Amazon generic pump and the MTS, MTS was out of stock for months so ended up with the AMZ one. I may grab another MTS, as prevention, but hopefully this one will last

Here's some. The more expensive one comes with the adapters you need. That's the one I ended up getting. They're brand new

I usually fill up when the tank is about 1/4 full, as a rule of thumb regardless of vehicle, the strainer on these fuel pumps is a little loose, i put a zip tie around it, hopefully the zip tie plastic won’t be dissolved by the gas

PO didn't have the correct adapters for the aftermarket pump so he tied a big fat zip tie around the pump and strainer. It was at least a few years old being almost always submerged and it still looked brand new when I pulled the pump out, so you should be OK.
