amsuco Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 MTS apparently has my sender on backorder. My name's been on the list for over a month now. I'm considering having my old unit rebuilt. I might even keep it as a backup. The only option I've come up with so far is Instrument Services in Machesney Park, IL. Their ballpark is $325 to $350 and a wait of 8 to 10 weeks. Is anyone familiar with other rebuilders? Older posts in the forum mentioned Tri-Starr Radiator. They're out of that business, and sent me to Instrument Services.
Htchevyii Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 Hmm, I wonder if the top of the tank has a flat enough spot to mount a universal sender like this? There are different ohm ratings, not sure what the MJ uses? Holley sells a Lidar one, but it says that it doesn't work with OE style gauges. https://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=346/category_id=184/mode=prod/prd346.htm

Now I have a new Bosch 69302 set to go in. But everything in, and attached to, the fuel tank looks sketchy. So I'm taking Pete up on his advice about going through EVERYTHING while I'm working back in that area.
Gojira94 Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 The side cover on the sender comes off, and you can clean the elements inside with a q-tip and 91% alcohol. How sketchy is the rest? Pics?
amsuco Posted September 17, 2025 Author Posted September 17, 2025 The old parts are removed and new ones ordered, so there's no going back. I just want to save the old sender and gas tank for now, in case they might be worth hanging onto.
