terryt
I have now replaced the harmonic balancer and from 45 to 55 mph it is vibrating still i have balanced wheels 2 times new tires. The suspension parts are all tight Its a 1990 MJ 2wd i replaced the rear u joint and the one in the front going into the back of the transmission seems fine. I am about to give up does anyone have any suggestions? At lower speeds up to 45 mph it is fine and 55 mph and above its fine Could the front u joint be bad even though it seems fine? I have also replaced the clutch and flywheel and brakes all the way around. PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE
watchamakalit
Is the steering linkage all in good working order? What about the steering gearbox and lower steering column? Do you feel the vibration in the entire truck, or mainly in the steering wheel? is it random when it occurs, or related to turns or bumps in the road? What condition are your wheel bearings in? terryt
The only thing i found is when i grab the steering shaft i can move it a little so i bought one and have not replaced it yet could that be it? When i put the brakes on it i packed the wheel bearings good but now that i think of it the right outer bearing didnt seem as tight as the others that being said why only at that speed would it do that? watchamakalit
Hard to say WHY it only does it at speed. ANY play in the steering system from the steering wheel to the ground can cause problems. Manual or auto trans? Wonder if it's a clutch or transmission shudder? Not sure just kinda spit-balling ideas.

89 MJ
When was the last time it had an alignment? I’d suspect the alignment might be off or there is a worn steering component somewhere.
