M.T.Hands
performed all the junk I had wanted to for the time being and it is a nice day, SO, I thought I'd take the "Heep" out for a little cruise, well upon arrival at our property truck coughs and sputters, Thinking I'm out of gas, well that the trucks out of gas and it looks like the gauge is not reading correctly it has been registering 1/2 tank for 25-40 mi total, so I suspect sending unit, upon getting "Home" truck was out of fuel, but showing 1/2 tank.... I searched here and found this; COMANCHE MJ 1987-1990 18 & 23.5 GAL. F.I. W/ PUMP - 4.0L (justgastanks.com) Is this the sending/pump unit I need (6Cyl 5 spd), and what is best option, pulling the bed or drop the tank???? fiatslug87
Neither, you can remove the sender with the tank in place. It’s on the side of the tank facing the drive shaft. That is the sender people have said works for them.
Eagle_SX4
That appears to be the right one but I ordered mine directly from MTS and it was about $50 cheaper 3 years ago. https://www.mtscompany.com/sendingunits.htm You just need to email them. They don't take orders on their website.
M.T.Hands
Thanks Fiat and Eagle, I really wasn't looking to forward to pulling the bed, and I always dreaded dropping tanks, and certainly like saving a little moola
