Larger Wheels and Tires

I just upgraded my 2022 JLU Rubicon's wheels and tires.  I would like to put my almost new JLU 17" rims and tires on my MJ.  I believe the tires are a 31" or 31.5 KO2 AT's.  My MJ is stock.  Any idea what size lift I would need to fit these without clearance issues (I know I will need a set of spacers for the bolt pattern)?

Theoretically 31’s fit on an otherwise stock truck, but there are some factors that affect that. I had 265/70R16 on my longbed all winter and had minor rubbing on lower control arms and fender liners up front and I’d hear a bit of rubbing in the back while going over bumps, but at 550,000km on original springs it’s not sitting at original height any more. A 2” budget boost would probably be enough for you. The JL wheels will poke out a little further before considering the adapter, so control arm rub is going to be less as well, but they might get a little further into the fenders.

I would do 3" at the minimum.  4.5 is better if you want to flex offroad. 

 

remember that a "31 inch tire" is usually closer to 30", so a metric tire that measures 31.5 will be like a 32" tire

I had a set of stock takeoff JK 17's on mine for a while that measured right at 32". They fit, but rubbed a little, I think I had an extra isolator on the front springs (1/2-3/4" lift), and longer rear shackles, (1-1 1/2" lift)
