mudhound0530
So i was out dinking around on the MJ and i decided to see how bad the PO screwed around the factory wiring, long story short...I am going to jerry rig up a light to light up one of the four wheel drive lights "FULL TIME" or "PART TIME" are the options...what would you guys do? Part time makes sense bc its NP231 Full time would also be cool bc is a trail only rig and will likely never see pavement or be DD ever again. Just bored and want your opinions, also if you can think of an easy way to get this to work with one of the lights behind the dash I'm all ears. Happy new year Max
mudhound0530
So since the PO kinda rigged stuff up his own way, i no longer have an ebrake and my PART TIME light never comes on so i switched the idiot light wiring using my haynes manual and this is what i ended up with...if anyone cares :D
Pete M
Almost all of us have run into "PO" issues. :D
Tonedef131
Yeah, welcome to the "my trucks PO cut the e-brake" club.
BLHTAZ
Why bother hooking anything up. I just disconnected the wires so no lights come on. They are not needed as I am sure you can tell if it is in 4WD or not without a light ;) . Just my personal preference though as I hate lights on the dash...especially useless ones like that. mudhound0530
I don't know if everyone can tell but "MUD" lights up with PART TIME...i just think its fun. More importantly I'm proud of myself for being able to read a wriring diagram cause I'm a uber n00b when it comes to that stuff. ps - both lights are on all the time (ooh well)
BLHTAZ
ps - both lights are on all the time (ooh well) That usually means that the vacuum actuator in the t-case has gone bad or is just stuck. Tap it a little bit and see if it breaks free. If not, take it out and check to see if the plunger pushes in & out freely. If it's stuck and you can not get it to release...time to replace it as it could be keeping your front axle engaged all the time even though the t-case is not in 4WD. mudhound0530
The light is on bc i changed the wiring on the back of the idiot lights. here's what happened in order 1. PO took out all the light, i buy new lights...see what lights up 2. e-brake light and shift light work (and stay on constantly) 3. i shift the wiring around bc i don't have an ebrake and i don't need an upshift light that doesnt work 4. Now i have a PART TIME light on all the time...which is fine cause its a trail rig not a DD and it will be in 4wd amost all the time.(except on dry pavement...I'm not starting that topic) 5. And i also have a MUD light just to make me giggle.
