AeroNautical Posted September 9, 2023 Share Posted September 9, 2023 This is the first electrical issue I've had since my full rewire back in 2017. I swapped over to high output, from a 93 XJ. I turned my wipers on the other day, no worries. It has intermittent, low and high. The intermittent slider... intermittently works, and sometimes doesn't park the blades when shutting off. Now, they just don't shut off at all. I pulled the wiper fuse for a temp solution. It sounds like it could be a bad switch, but I don't want to rule out a relay or that little black box under the dash I heard fails often. Any way to test that box? Thanks guys. ghetdjc320 Posted September 9, 2023 Share Posted September 9, 2023 Failing to park can be the actual wiper motor and/or the black box or a wiring issue between the two. It’s a short 12v pulse that should kick on the intermittent sweep of the wipers. The wiper motor itself is responsible for completing the sweep and returning to park so long as it has solid 12v+ & ground at the motor. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
schardein Posted September 10, 2023 Share Posted September 10, 2023 This won't help, but I have a spare XJ steering column that I use to test wiper delay modules and wiper motors. I have it set up so I just connect my 12v power source to a set of pigtails, then I have different adapter pigtails so I can test the three different XJ wiper motors, as well as CJ, YJ, TJ etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Keep in mind that the “park” function is part of the motor circuitry so don’t discount the motor altogether just yet even though it may not be your prime suspect. If your wipers don’t return to park when you shut them off at the switch, the motor circuit could be a likely culprit. If the wiper motor is original, it’s definitely worth cracking it open and cleaning up the contacts inside.
