Powder coating

Looking to get a front bumper (DBO's Manta DIY bumper) powdercoated.....jeez was I floored at the cost. $300 to get it done in white.

 

Last time a had anything coated was 2019-2020-ish and was about $150 for a similar piece. 

 

Have prices gone up that much in 4 years?

Ehhh kinda. I’ve been doing black so those have gone up a little. Other colors, well I’d imagine they would cost more regardless. I mean unless you’re powder coating lawn chairs and what not, I can’t see white being popular.

Black was about the same price ($275). I'm gonna call Columbia Coatings and see what a pound of their white runs..... I've got the stuff to do it just didn't want to.

Materials, labor, and other costs have gone up dramatically since Covid.

Ended up $200 cash for coating with me supplying the powder. I bought some clearance white from Columbia for $3/lb (took 3lbs.... just barely enough).

 

So factor in cost for shipping ($15), I made out for about $225 to get it coated, plus I've got extra powder for the rear bumper!
