tail gate straps...

i was just wondering how many people have changed the tail gate straps on their mjs...

the metal folding strap on mine gets really annoying because it either won't colapse right or gets jamed...so i put some steel rope straps off a chevy truck...just a comfort mod i guess :-D

how much did the tailgate straps run? i was thinking about doing this to mine just to get rid of the old metal ones.

I don't have problems with the strips so much as I do the rubber isolator thingys on the bedside that they fit into when the gate closes. I swear I've gone thru about 3 sets of them (I pull extras off at the junkyard when I see them 'cause I know I'm gonna need them eventually). Inevitably, the tapered end gets caught by the strip and smooshed (technical term right there :D ) when the gate closes.

 

Maybe some wire rope straps aren't a bad idear....thanks for sharing!

well ive seen some go for around 10 bucks or less...but i got some off a gmc at a junkyard...

I had issues with my metal straps, I just greased them and they've been fine.

I don't have any problems with my Tail gate :D I guess that has something to do with that it is not on the truck though :twisted:
