'92 4.0 engine wiring harness diagrams

Recommended Posts

I am working on putting the fuel injection back on my '92 4.0 I have in my AMC Eagle SX4. The last 4 years I have been running it with the 4.2 liter manifold and carb set up. It is now finally time to put the original fuel injection back on it. I am having problems locating a good wiring schematic. I have the Haynes manual which has the computer wire schematic but I doesn't have the firewall bulkhead connector diagram or the power distribution center diagrams. I was wondering if anyone had either of those diagrams?IMG_20230515_210123668.jpg.fab7627ab151d9bdc87e4391fd21464b.jpg

So it turns out jeep changed some things between 91 and 92 on the power distribution center. Here is a picture of the layout for both.IMG_20230526_163138855.jpg.a72982d2b80d79c5ba1f54b0a015a1c0.jpg

It might be hard to read but they moved the relays around and added a fuse to the fuel injection. Still trying to sort it all out. If anyone has a 92 power distribution center schematic it would help a bunch.

Thanks for all the diagrams it helped me to get all the wiring finished today.

I got the engine to fire up but it won't stay running. I think it is a bad IAC valve. It runs for about 5 seconds with it unplugged and only about 1 second with it plugged in. The IAC and throttle body are clean I disassembled the entire throttle body and soaked all non electrical parts is my parts cleaner.

Any tips on how to test the IAC Valve?

I also think the TPS isn't working properly. I tested the TPS at closed throttle it is about .78 volts and at full throttle is only 3.5 volts. I have read that it is supposed to be 1 volt at closed and 4.5 at wide open. It's too bad you can't adjust it like a Renix TPS. I took it off and turned it with a screw driver and was able to get the 4.5 volts it is supposed to have but it won't do it at full throttle.
