AW4 TCU info

Converting a 1988 2wd automatic Comanche to 4wd using parts from a 1991 xj. Question is which TCU should I use?  Will the 91 TCU plug into the 88 harness?  Thanks for any info!

Why are you moving over the transmission? Maybe I am ignorant of something, but they should both be AW4s so you can just move over the transfer case from the 91.

It will plug in, but note the color of the connectors. 

 

I think 91 and later was tan whereas the earlier ones were blue. 

 

Paradisexj here on CC did this conversion and ran into issues. You might search for his posts.

Going from 2wd to 4wd requires moving transmission as well as case.

Different spline count on the transmissions.
