xj headliner

anyone ever toy with the idea of cutting an XJ headliner to fit an MJ?

yea, tried, couldn't match up the rear corners...it came out like sh*t so I tossed it

Yeah. You can get it in there, but there's no way to make it "right" at the back edge where you have to cut it for length. My red '88 doesn't have a headliner, and that's better than a butchered XJ headliner any day.

I will be using part of one when I extend my cab to fit 2dr XJ doors.

 

I might wind up piecing 2 MJ ones together if it won't work.

 

Fiberglass will be my friend either way.

I too have wondered about this. I kept the front half of the liner along with the soundbar from the $500 wrecked '99 parts XJ I bought. I'm thinking the rear corner contour can me matched up with a little creativity. I'm thinking if you were to score around 2/3 of the way through the headliner from the back side, around every 1/2" or so, you could conform it to fit the curves. I'm gonna give it a shot anyways...
