Jim Allen
Just picked up a 86 xls mj and found this site researching it on the net and hope to pick you guys brains as I start building my mj up. I was wondering if rims off a 90 wrangler would fit on my mj. thanks for any help.
Stumpy
depending on the tire size they will fit. only difference might be the backspacing.
feerocknok
They'd be fine. You need wheels with a bolt pattern of 5x4.5, and stock backspacing (basically how far the wheel sticks out) is 5.25". Less backspacing will push the tire further outside of the body. Jim Allen
The rims I found are after market with an offset of 3.75,they will stick out a little further. Is this to much? thanks for the responses.
BLHTAZ
It shouldn't be too much, but it will keep you with a pretty small tire unless you have a lift because pushing them out will cause them to rub easier at the front & rear of the fender when turning with a larger tire. CWLONGSHOT
On the fenders of our MJ's and XJ, 4" BS seems about max, 4.5 is about perfect right for the lions share of the tires people run. So as long as your staying with in 11" wide and less then 35'' tall, these rims should do what you want. CW
carnuck
2wd rims are slightly skinnier than 4x4 stock rims. I put 33/9.50/15s on my stock rims. (too bad BFG discontinued that size this year!)
