Will a 97+ XJ AC work/fit into a Comanche?

Friend of mine is gutting his XJ and my Comanche is an 89 that didn’t come with an AC from the factory. Is it possible to add the AC into the Comanche? I know it’s gonna be a long process to just remove all the parts from the XJ alone. That being said does anyone know if it’s possible and know what I’ll be needing to remove exactly?

What year XJ? The reason I ask is the 2000-01 the blend door is electronically controlled. Earlier ones are cable controlled. Others will have to chime in as for or if the 91-96 or the 97-99 HVAC box will mount up to the 87-90 firewall.

I'd look at your present HVAC box. I think it should have the space for the evaporator.
