89 MJ
To me, this seems like a complete lack of thought on Apple's part. I like what they were going for, making it harder to lose things, but how could they not consider this?! I can't help but wonder if this will be something employed by kidnappers and traffickers too. It seems like it would be easy enough to stick in a child's backpack or a women's purse.
acfortier
Not sure where all of the Apple hate comes from, they aren't the first to produce a tracking device. Look at Tile, they've had a product in the market for some time now. My girlfriend used them before moving to AirTag. I'd be thankful that, if you have an iOS device, it does notify you that there is an unknown AirTag following you. For instance, we have one on my dog's collar, that is linked to my girlfriend's account. Every time I take her somewhere in the car, I get a notification about an unknown AirTag. And if you don't have an Apple product? The only good thing I can say for Apple is they never marketed it as a GPS device like the others used to and some still do. Apple should Serialize these and link them to accounts. That way if you find a tag police can find the person. Also I'm not usually a fan of creating a new law but when it comes to tracking people... this should definitely be illegal.
