I need a new tierod end, anyone know what this steering setup is?

Previous owner installed the steering, and it just so happened to fall off. Luckily in a parking lot. Anyone know what tierod I need?

Did the tie rod end just fall out of the steering knuckle? Missing a cotter pin?

Judging by the mud in the pin hole I don't think there was a cotter pin lol.  I'm hoping it backed out and the force allowed the nut to strip.

I can’t tell for sure but that looks like those may be GM 1 ton tie rod ends in which case the knuckles and pitman arm would have been reamed out to fit them. If they are the GM 1 tons, pretty much any auto parts store will have those parts on the shelf. ES2234L is the passenger side moog part number. It should cross reference at the parts store. If it’s not a 1 ton end then it should just be a standard Jeep end but obviously that steering configuration is not stock for an MJ. If the GM one doesn’t fit check out a passenger tie rod end for an 88 Jeep YJ (just a random year that should have a separate tie rod end that isn’t integral to the drag link)

if the threads are ok, I would probably just reinstall it and add the pin

I was looking at those but the drag link hole is vertical on this. The 1 tons I've seen the drag link was on the front. I'm not sure if that matters, honestly don't know enough about steering.

The tie rod end feels sloppier than my ex wife.  It's a bit rusty too. 
Probably due for a steering overhaul like everything else on this poor truck lol.

If those are GM 1tin TRE’s then just get an ES2233L.

 

That kit looks a lot like the JCR kit but there are many copies and manufacturers making similar kits. Here is a link for all the replacement TRE’s if they are indeed the GM 1 tons.

I measured the knuckle taper with calipers and the tie rod taper is around 3.4*

 

Which is very close to stock jeep taper so I'm assuming it is.

 

the threaded end appears to be 13/16.
 

I'm going to slap a nut back on it... With a cotter pin and order 1 ton steering.

 

Hopefully my 2019 ram is back from the dealer before long.

If the knuckles are not reamed, consider the Currie CE-9701 kit. It’s a kit for stock Jeep size tapers but is a super strong kit

I had that on my cherokee before I went to tons. Nice steering but pricey. I know a guy with a reamer so I'll probably just up to the chevy 1 ton. Atleast then the rod ends will be the same as my xj.
