DerricksLaymon
I have an 1988 mj Eliminator with a 6.5 long arm x flex RC lift with 35" tires. When I bought it, it was a 2 wheel drive straight 6 with a 5sp pugi transmission. About a year ago I bought an 1991 mj straight 4, 5sp ax transmission 4x4 doner and pulled the front axle and all 4x4 components and put them on my 88 Eliminator. My issue is that the ax transmission out of the doner wouldn't bolt to my straight 6. Right now I have a lifted mj with all the 4x4 components on it ready to go but no transmission and t case. With covid going on parts were getting hard to find but now that things are getting back to normal I'm looking again. I would like to keep my truck a 5 sp if all possible. Please let me know what transmission you think would be best or any opinions on what I should be looking for. Dosent matter what it's out of as long as its sturdy and reliable. Big Dan
An ax5 will not bolt to the 4.0. The 2.5 and 4.0 are a different bolt pattern. If I'm correct, the ax5 is a Chevy bolt pattern. Fix is ax15

DerricksLaymon
Ok thank you for the replys. I had a couple people tell me about the ax15. I've been told about a few like the Borg warner t5, or the aisin. I'm just not 100% on what I should choose. I need something that's easy to find and reliable. Dosent have to be anything over the top, It's a daily driver/ offroad show so half and half.

scaleless
AX15 is definitely the way to go. Where are you located? I've got an extra AX15 at the moment in Lousiana.
