Interior Switch &Cigarette lighter Install

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i have an 87’ 2wd automatic longbed and was wondering if anyone had any luck cutting out these panels and running switches? the left panel (next to the head light knob) has two inserts that don’t seem to come out, but the right side switch cover comes out. Was planning on running carling styled rocker switches all around (the 5 pin ones). Also does anyone know the process of wiring up the oem cigarette lighter? i bought one off ebay as well as a switch panel for clock panel above that, since mine didn’t have a clock wired up anyways. Any info helps! I also noticed wires hidden behind the left fake me out switch panel, any idea on what those are for? I figured comanches didn’t have the rear defrost or window wipers so wondering what those wires are for as well!

Dang. Your missing either the delete plates or someone took the clock and lighter for parts. Anyways all the wiring is there. On an MJ the rocker switch wiring from left to right is: fog lamps, cargo lamp and then trans switch.

Also a dremmel or heat will remove the switch panel delete from the dash bezel.

the delete panels i have, i just removed them lol! and awesome awesome, should those already be factory relayed up? could i wire into those when i install offroad lights? or should i just delete them if i don’t plan on running cargo lights or fog lights? where does that wiring end up? also for the cigarette lighter is there a harness behind the whole dash? or would i have to mock up all the wiring for that?

You’ll have to make your own harness that will connect to the headlamp harness plug for the fog lamps and you’ll be able to retain the clean factory look without cutting and drilling holes. The cargo lamp should be presided and the wire is tucked up behind the drivers side B-pillar. So you can just leave that alone. The clock and lighter harness should be behind the dash bezel which you’ll have to remove.

Can someone find me that Hornbr0d post on the home brew fog lamp harness please.
