Dana 30 Seal R&R - Random Piece Found

So I am finally getting around to replacing the seals on my Dana 30 with CAD. (Its only been leaking for a couple of ... years ... quit looking at me like that!) While knocking the seal out of the CAD housing, this piece of mangled metal came with it. What was it originally, where did it go, can I find it new to reinstall? Thanks.

Also, I have Federal Mogul seal #710204 (says 16083 on the seal itself) for the passenger side, and Timken 710068 for the driver's side. Can anyone confirm these are correct?

I'm of no help b/c I don't have a CAD axle but I'm curious as well....

just looks to be a axle sleeve for the inner axle shaft. not really needed. seals look good if fit the hole. lube the seal and slap that one piece axle shaft in and run it

kinda a speedy sleeve of sorts. with the seal to overengineer junk setups for people like us to bring back to stealership. you be amazed what you really don't need to keep these trucks going.
