shagtn
When I picked up my MJ in January the hose coming from the PCV was basicly just laying on top of the engine and would start spitting oil out as the engine warmed up. I Ran this hose straight to the Air Filter housing as a Temp fix and this past weekend I removed the hose and replaced it with a new rubber grommet and a breather filter and capped off the hole on the back side of the air filter. I am curious if there is anything that I have over looked as I do not want to cause more harm than good with this setup. Thanks, -Will
Bounty Hunter
Make sure this hole has vacuum sucking into the crankcase, otherwise your CCV system is not working correctly. The vacuum line at the rear of the valve cover should suck into the intake manifold, and the valve cover will draw air in through the front line to the intake, or as you have, a filter. Eagle
The '88 4.0L does not have a PCV. Which hose are you referring to, the large one at the front of the valve cover or the small one at the rear of the valve cover?
shagtn
I am talking about the large one at the front of the cover. If it is not PCV, then what is it called?\ -Will
tjbliley
Its called a CCV or Crank Case Ventilation. it is just air flow without a valve or restriction.
