1988 Comanche Driver side turn signal not working when headlights are on

Recommended Posts

Looking for some help with this issue.

So I had all the light systems working fine about 9 months ago but then had the truck up on jacks for the rest of the time while working on some axle issues. Now that I got it all back together I'm having issues with the driver side turn signal.

So when the headlights are off, the driver side, passenger side, and hazard lights all work fine.

When the headlights are on, the passenger side and hazard lights work fine.

When I turn the headlights on, the left turn signal indicator illuminates on the dash and is solid. When I turn on the left turn signal, it stays solid and the front and rear signals don't flash. When I turn the hazards on, the signal indicator flashes and the front and rear lights flash light they're supposed to.

Just hoping someone might be able to help. I checked the fuses and swapped some and that didn't do anything.

Check the socket ground in the socket. They love to rust away into nothing cause they are a cheap metal. For some bizarre but probably money saving reason, AMC went from the good metal sockets of 84-86 to Ford sockets for 87-90. 91-96 changed back to the old style sockets. It’s best to replace both those front sockets now and never have to do worry about them not functioning again.

Where is the socket ground you're talking about?
