JustEmptyEveryPocket
That cable crosses to an 88 Comanche with 4.0L engine. Are you sure its correct for your year, engine, transmission (or transfer case)?
JMO413
I believe you are holding part number 2 in your hand the cable should just unscrew. The OEM cable had the nice nut the aftermarket went cheap.

All of them have not been smooth at the speedometer. I have found living the cable helps allot. I would do it when you install it. IMHO
AMC86Kid
I have got it apart now and it does work on the 86 but you just got to mod the back of the gauge to get the new cable to clip on, my old one appears to be the original one and the wire is all cracked up and peeling off

You need the one that attaches to the speedo head with a metal clip and a screw.
AMC86Kid
Your right eagle it’s not all metal like the original one but I have no clue where to even buy an original one so I just got this one and it works just fine, plus it’s a little longer than the old one so you have more wire to work with behind the cluster
