Rooster92
The next project for my jeep is to paint it. I have been slowly researching and gathering the correct supplies/equipment. Are there any important repairs or modifications that should be done BEFORE the vehicle is painted? I want to make sure before I start. Thanks. AZJeff
Anything better than a rattle-can paint job needs to have all rust neutralized/removed and any holes repaired before painting, or it will come back quickly. if you plan to add oversized fender flares, any cutting, etc. for those should be done before painting. Smokeyyank
How you paint it will determine the amount of prep. If you are doing a 2 stage base and clear you'll need to have every dent fixed, no rust and make it as smooth as possible. If you are doing a bed liner type it's more forgiving because the texture and will hide imperfections.
Pete M
I would do as much of the big jobs as possible before paint. less chance of scratching stuff later on while you're wrestling with an axle or something.
