Scammers in Private Messages

If someone messages you asking for you to email them off site to conduct business about your classified posting, especially new users without any posts, report them.  They are in most cases a scammer conducting the same tactics found on Craigslist and Facebook.

 

WahooSteeler alerted us to suspicious users and it was very easy to confirm that they are scammers.  The email address they provide come back with search hits of scams on many other forums and the IP addresses resolve to two internet service providers in Nigeria.

It was for this exact reason that I eventually decided the "I'm looking for leather seats" piece that was in my signature for a while was a complete waste of time. Glad to know that the admins are on top of this.

Thanks Alexia and Pete. To all members, the admins were on this in a flash which gives me peace of mind on how well this site is run and monitored. No sooner than I had reported the PMs, I messaged Pete to be sure he was aware since I did not know how the "reporting" process works. He responded within 30 secs and when he went to check on the report he said another Admin (Alexia) had already viewed them. Great job and thanks again to all admins for making CC the best forum on the interwebs!
