WahooSteeler
Is the triangular steering box brace/spacer a stock part? I.e. is it supposed to be there on all MJ/XJ varieties? And for full clarification, does it go between the box and the frame rail? My truck does not have one.
Strokermjcomanche
Yes they are all supposed to have one, even if it's not power steering.
WahooSteeler
Thanks, I was 99.9% sure it was. Had it in the shop for inspection and told them to go ahead and repair steering leak. Wasn't sure if it was the pump or the gear box. Had an aftermarket solid steel spacer to replace factory piece and tech said he did not see a spacer. That said, shop just called me back and said since the pump replacement solved the steering leak, he did not pull the box, which would explain that he did not see it since it's tucked in the frame rail. jeeptec1
Yes , someone must have replaced the steering box found it was either broken or left it out. Get one of the aftermarket ones they help stiffen up that frame a bit.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
